When I was looking at that one I saw the 1100 as they had one in the showroom. Amazing. But out of my price range.

Exactly. Which is why I ended up with the MT09 for $7700, brand new.

    Update!

I replaced the o-rings on the fuel crossover tube last night and reassembled the carburetors.

I just got them swapped out on the bike and, after a lot of cranking and noodling around with the enrichener, it runs!! :D

    No leaks, yet.:fingerscrossed:

Now, even though it runs and idles, I have no idea how it will perform under a load. I’m about to take it out for a run to see how it goes. I will keep it local in my neighborhood just in case it dies on me.

    Making progress!

It runs and rides! It pulls smooth and consistent through the power band, so I’m not sure if I need to synchronize the carbs or not.

Either way, I’m really happy I finally got this project done. Now I’m going to install a much-needed fuel filter.

$65 quick detach Ebay sissybar. The GF loves it cause it lets her lean back more that the HD bar and pad. I can go from solo to 2 up in less than 2 minutes!

Is this a normal fuel level for an inline filter? I want to make sure.
I bought one designed for a gravity/vacuum system and not one with a fuel pump, so I don’t think it would have any flow issues.
I guess I just expected the whole thing to fill up with fuel.

Air bubbles happen, as long as it’s not running dry you’re ok. You could try to pop the gas cap, open the petcock, and give the filter some taps to get the air bubble to travel up the line and get more in there. Sometimes giving the line a few squeezes helps too, like if you were burping a coolant hose almost.

Well, I just had it out for a scoot and the filter actually did go empty; it must have been pulling enough fuel because the bike ran fine, although I’m nervous that it was running lean for obvious reasons.

Where would the air be coming from? All clamps are super tight. I just filled it up manually and got all the air out of it, then started the engine and allowed it to idle. The air pocket developed in the filter and gradually grew larger.

    :notsure:

I’ll share a picture of my bikes while I still have them. From left to right: 2019 Honda CB300R, 2006 Suzuki DR650, 2016 Yamaha FJ-09.
I used to ride nearly every day when I lived in TN. Now that we live in Florida, they just collect dust. At first, I loved the idea of riding year-round, but quickly got bored without the curves and hills. The snowbirds really don’t help the situation either.
Trading them in on a new WaveRunner in September when the 2021s come out. It’s pretty depressing to give it up after being on 2 wheels for over 20 years, but I’m sure I’ll get back to it eventually.
