I searched around and I couldn't find a good comparison to my buying opportunity..

    2014 TRD Off Road
    4.0l V6
Manual Transmission (I'm committed to buying a manual)
    20k miles
    2 owners
Bone stock but comes with tonneau cover and trailer package (minor nicks)
Asking price is $28k (right where KBB puts it)

Is that a good deal? Or am I better off looking at new? (I plan to test drive one with the 3.5L but I'm worried about driving the 3rd gen on uphill mountain highways)

    Thanks for the help!

    Edit: Added engine info

Depends a bit where you are located. I paid that much for mine (2 years ago) with 35k miles. Was a TRD OR DCSB for reference. And I had to buy my tonneau after haha. Good luck I. Your search! I miss my third pedal

Why are you worried about going up hill in a 3rd gen.
They do fine, put it in S4 and push the ect button. You'll make it, I promise. Now if you are getting a 2019 or 2020 then you might not with the fuel pump issue and if you try to crawl control it on the 2020 you might not get very far.

First you need to figure out if you want the 4.0 2nd gen or 3.5 3rd gen. You are planning a test drive so good there

If you decide you want the 4.0, this one with 20k miles, manual transmission, TRD off road, is probably the nicest one you will find. Is it a good deal to buy the nicest 2nd gen available for right at KBB? I would say yes.

    Stock for now.. maybe
Is it a V6? 4x4? If so I'd say go for it if the frame isn't rusted to shit.
About 8 months ago I bought a 2015 v6 manual 4x4 with 50kmiles for a bit less but not much .. are you buying from a dealer?

Back it in April I bought a certified pre owned from a Toyota dealer. 2015 Access Cab, TRD off road, 4x4 V6, 6 speed manual, 26k miles. One owner.

Private-party, but the KBB I pulled was for private party sale.

Located in Denver - so these sell way too quick!

Thanks for all the quick feedback - shows how big this community is! I'll report back after my 3rd gen test drive - dealership happens to be located near the big hill climb.

Edit: Went for the test-drive on the manual transmission 3rd gen. I could definitely feel the lack of low-end torque. Still not sure...
