I know you were being sarcastic. All good man.

I was stating that I could be done differently.
There is likely going to be other cases of this leak, and maybe someone has to, or will have to, do it their self.

4K, and and engine pull can cause a panic.
If there is an easier or cheaper way, maybe it can help someone?

Sounds about right for cost, when my leaked at 36k miles they pulled the entire engine out and stripped it down and changed out every single gasket.

It's not hard. Methodical is key. When I wore a younger man's clothes I pulled engines quite often. It's not hard, maybe a 7/10 on the hardness scale. Definitely over a 12 pack, close to a case. Well, maybe approaching hard lol.

I've pulled engines and transmissions on Honda's and 4.8l Chevy's, valve jobs, timing jobs etc. I guess it's more the fear of the unknown. I'm confident I had to, id figure it out.

Wow that's a lot of miles it would take me like almost 15years to drive that much.
Makes me slightly nervous that a simple leak is $4k to fix. I'm just buying one of these as my first brand new vehicle.

There are no new cars that are completely free of issues across the board. Look at how many of these are sold and the percentage that have serious issues is small. That’s pretty much where a reputation of reliability comes from.

Yep that's true. I just hope I don't have crap happen like with my Jeep. Transmission needed replaced at 97k 3 months after I paid it off. And I spent the $3200 on it. Of course Im driving itabout six more years later so it was worth it. If that's the real cost that's still a lot for an oil leak to be fixed. We don't know if that was a dealership quote or what the local labor rates are.

I’ve got 105k on my 2017. I’d be right up there with OP but I stopped traveling for work. The first 2 years I had my truck, I was doing about 1,000 miles a week - 45k for the year. It’s real easy to do if you are in a sales related field.

typically Monday and Friday would be drive days of 200-800 miles depending on the week.

@Shellshock sales jobs do rack up the miles. My brother had put an incredible amount on his Sonota in a year or so.
I'm glad my driving for work only requires travel between locations that are just a few miles away and it's not daily.
I used to deliver pizza when I was younger. Man I put on the miles then too and wore out the brakes Every year too.

I had a lot of people telling me I should get some econo box for all the traveling I was doing. The issue is, spending that much time in a vehicle you need something comfortable and reliable. Road and wind noise don’t matter until you are frequently spending 6+ hours listening to it. Turning up the radio isn’t a solution unless you want to be deaf lol

I would frequently travel consecutive weeks so having the space made things way easier. Plus on occasion I’d have to haul stuff around for installations we were doing. There was plenty of times I got caught in snow storms and I was able to get where I was going.

I’m still on the original brakes and clutch in my truck. Suspension is getting replaced soon. Aside from that, all I’ve done is oil changes, trans and diff fluid. And some tires.

I’m in sales and have done ~1000 per week for the last 10yrs. Got to 75k on my truck and then they moved us to fleet vehicles. Now I’m in a Ford Escape. Not nearly as comfy as my truck but it gets the job done. If I ever get the chance to go back to the truck, I’ll take it in a heartbeat.
