What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Y'all remind me of my Dad. Owned a Corvette for 10 years, and I can count on 1 hand the number of times I drove it. And if you add the number of times I even rode in it, I wouldn't need my entire other hand. I let everyone drive my junk. I've taught two different gf's how to drive stick in it (still on the OEM clutch too, for now), and made my buddy drive us to Phoenix from L.A. different strokes I guess...

What I did do today was pick up a color matched grille that I immediately disassembled in preparation for the Pro insert that's on it's way. I'll be transferring the surround and weather strip to pro grill and put my old surround on this fresh grille to sell.

 

Probably went a little extreme to the opposite end of my dad honestly

 

I have not been as successful yet..... (I did not put the notch in the bolt, must have been the stealership the last time it was serviced -prior to the ADD actuator junking- and before I woke up to doing my own maintenance)
I've soaked it in PB Blaster and hit it with a 1050HP electric torque gun.... the allen head has not stripped yet... and I have the big Star driver if it does.... but still nothing.....

Let the suggestions start...

 

I was at Ft Carson we used to run to Peterson for lunch once a week they had better food. What years were you there?

 

If it were me, in this order, I would get a bigger breaker bar and go at it until it strips. Then I’d weld a nut on and try again. The heat from welding would help crack it free. Then an air chisel.

 

I would heat it up , and use a big breaker bar, cross your fingers

 

My parent's lived there from 96 to 98 if I remember correctly and I just stayed there during the summers since I was off at college.

 

I would pick up some CRC freeze off,. Then a massive breaker bar. my impact wrench didn't work oddly Enough. Heat might have to be brought into it.

 

+1 Heat the metal surrounding the bolt then use the freeze off as you apply the impact wrench. If you're quick enough, the bolt should be contracting while the hole is expanding.

I got to wheel some of Colorado, New Mexico, and spent a good deal of time in Death Valley

 

Good question, I don't know either but when I did my transfer case it was unplugged! So must not be THAT important
