My OEM mount for the hazard lights button and clock didn't fit either. So using eye hooks for hanging pictures, I screwed those into the stud holes and used 24g wire to secure it in place. The stud holes are small and I doubt the OEM screws would have fit without cracking it. I also used a glue gun around the stud holes to hopefully make them a little stronger. I used a small drill bit to drill the holes needed for the wire, including 2 holes in the bottom of the dash face of the stereo.

So I'm looking at getting this head unit for my 2009. Anyone have experience with the Android 10 update on the head unit?

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/402321082411

Looks like they're coming with Android 10 now. Also, I have seen some reports on XDA of white noise and background whine when volume is > 0 or when using Bluetooth. Anyone?

Haven't seen a update for 10 yet. As far as "white noise", no. That sounds kinda creepy lol I've never experienced that but I do remember someone posted about a very low static noise (white noise?) but don't remember how they remedied it. Look back through the thread, you might find your answer

You have to buy the link kit through dasaita or run headunit reloaded

Handbook? This is the wire coming from the HU. No instructions with it. I think now it's for a Back button for screen navigation.

After much debating, I’m “almost” ready to buy a Dasaita. I’ve read through this entire thread but due to everybody having different truck models and even a couple of different head units discussed, I am hoping to have just a few questions answered.

My truck is a 2010 TRD Sport Longbed w/JBL sound system. I’m adding an aftermarket amp for a new subwoofer but plan on keeping the OEM amp for the door speakers (too lazy to rewire the entire truck lol). Will I need to purchase a canbus adapter and if so, which one?

I’m thinking of replacing the factory backup camera with a new one to improve the resolution on the head unit. For those of you that kept the factory camera, how was your resolution? Trying to decide if it’s worth the hassle!

It sucks that the head unit comes only in black since my dash is the silver. Did anybody successfully wrap or paint the plastic? I don’t have any experience wrapping so I’m leaning towards either painting or buying black temperature controls simply for aesthetics.

Thank you all and I’m really excited (and nervous) to finally do this upgrade to my truck!

I have a 2009 long bed with the JBL system so I'm in the same boat. I wasn't quite as successful compared to others here in the thread as far as negotiations, but in the end, Iris claims I will get everything that I need. Said I needed the CANBUS adapter, which usually runs $30. So $480 total for the CANBUS, the newest head unit with Android 10, and wireless Carplay.

I hope the CANBUS will be enough to route the mirror rear-view camera to the head unit.

Haha, thanks for the tag but my unit is still safely tucked in the cardboard box it was shipped in back in January...

I have purchased a front camera and I have the CANBUS adapter but I’ve been waiting to have the surround vinyl wrapped before I install it. That and the truck has been in the garage for the last two months... power steering rack bit the dust so I took the opportunity to do a complete suspension overhaul with new wheels while it’s down for repair. I also move very slowly. Lol.

Ironically, I just started dating a girl who works at a vinyl shop so with a little luck, I’ll have the unit installed in the next month or so. I know that @bwrapped was able to successfully do his in silver. I haven’t decided if I’m going to go satin black or try to match the silver.

As for wiring the rear camera to the headunit, my research says that won’t be an issue and the front camera will be wired into the second camera input. I’m still working on how to make that camera “on demand”, if it’s even possible.

I also have no intentions of adding an aftermarket amp at this time. Maybe sometime down the road I’ll upgrade the sub, speakers and add another amp but for now I plan to utilize all of the original JBL stuff.

Good god man! Lol well glad to hear everything is good with you. I saw the original poster had a 09trd so I figured you would have some insight. Didn't know it was still in a box lol.

I ended up not matching the silver and went the other direction. I painted everything black :rofl:20200625_202845.jpg

I didn't mean to sound rude earlier, this is my third Android HU and I've never had a manual come with it. In any case, the BACK wire is indeed the reverse activation wire. Many thanks for checking...my nerves are shot today lol

I might do this. How hard was it to paint everything black to match? Krylon spray?

It should. My HU is pretty solid for what I use it for.

Not hard, took my time. It was all part of a chrome delete. I plastidip'd the low traffic area and used Rust-Oleum for the rest. It just comes down to knowing how to take everything apart and a bit of skill with a rattle can.
    20200521_142946.jpg

If you end up doing it, feel free to hit me up if you need any help. I do recommend plasti-diping things first to see if you like it or not. Then later on laying down permanent paint

Not looking for anything fancy. Android Auto and the ability to stream podcast from my phone is pretty much all I'm looking for as far as audio capability. Hooking up the rear camera to the screen instead of the mirror is just a bonus.

Definitely, thank you. I'm debating if I should buy a second trim housing piece from ebay in case I screw it up...:anonymous:
