Got the following on a TRD Sport in Denver. Told the guy thanks for the reply but there is no way in hell I'm paying MSRP for a Tacoma.

I mean - if that market supports them going over MSRP - I guess I don't have a huge issue with it - I'm a capitalist as well. Doesn't mean I need to every buy anything from them though

Got quoted $36K OTD for a new access cab sr5 v6 2wd tacoma. Laughed in the dudes face. Gave him him a realistic offer of 31-32K and he said no. This was Panama City Toyota of Florida. Jokers work there. lol

That sounds high for a 2wd. I'd keep looking or hold out longer. I was getting told full MSRP for SR5 v6 4wd.
I was going to give up and wait but I got a 4x4 for 33,699,. Out the door with all fees $36k

Do you guys think this is a good deal?
    New TRD OR White 4X4
MSRP $38,818 for 36,800 not including the rebates?
Can’t account for Augusts rebates yet. Just comes with LED and mats.

When we lived in the Sacramento area, we always ended up buying our vehicles from dealers in the Bay area. They would deal much better than the Sacramento dealers. We even had one (an Infinity dealer) do the whole, "I hope it works out for you, but I bet they'll pull something..." We drove down to the Bay area dealer and they had just transferred the car we wanted off the truck. We got lunch while they prepared it, came back and signed the paperwork. We did swing by the Sac dealer in the new vehicle later...

As we discussed, 8 percent is pretty darn good in this environment. I know people holding out for 10 percent and I'm like ... dude ... you are putting your whole life on hold for 2 percent? Live a little. So happy for you ... ! Funny story. When I got my 2020 TRD OR (back then I was at 13 percent off MSRP -- oh the good times) I was ready to get it and my wife was like no ... not going and you can't get it. I asked her why and she said it is silver. You can't drive silver until you are retired. My wife, god love her, has cray cray opinions like that. I called the guy to say the deal may be off because my wife doesn't like a silver car. The guy laughed out loud and said good ... the truck is metallic gray .. the deal was back on ! :). Oh the fun ...

Unreal what some of these dealers are asking. Too bad people let the dealer do that to them. If people would say no, prices would come down.

@averagejp I was going to hold out for 10%. I was told buy someone in the car sales and marketing that ten was the average discount most people would get in normal times. Actually I was told to start an offer at 15% and work from there. With the shortage from covid that's not realistic. I seen that. I actually didn't play games. I just asked a few place for the best price. Got it at a dealership in Maryland about 30-40 minutes away. I was ready to buy. No use crying over 2%. I'm going be happy with it.

Agree with you 100% ... not worth sweating over for 2 percent. Plus that is a really good deal in today's environment. Really happy for you. And you didn't have to go that far. If you have a short list of OEM add ons that you are really focused on worth closing the deal and then asking for the best price to have them installed while you are there. You might save some money that way. First new car ... good for you !

If I want any other oem things it's likely to be a bed mat and probably bed light kit once I get a tonneau cover. I got to get the Jeep sold too since I decided not to trade him to get the most out of it.

I am with you on the bed mat. I got lucky and mine has the bed lights. I never had them before and thought "how useful could these be?" Turns out I love them and wonder how I ever lived without them. But I have a long list of little additions I want to buy ...

Thats less than 6% off MSRP, depending on the rebate its decent for this market, if the rebate is $1500 than you're right at 10%. If you're willing to wait once things stabilize you should be able to get at least 10% off MSRP without the rebate.

Good on you. Must be Koons of Westminster. I have bought 3 tacomas and a 4runner from them. Finance people know me and don't even bring up all the options.

Nope but I was talking to Koons location around DC they were not of much help, seems they have a long wait list for Tacoma's. It's Bill Kidd Toyota.
