Transfer case will be happy with 75W90 or 80W90 if you are in a pinch

It should, not sure if I would be putting fluid in transmission which contains limited-slip additive... But unfortunately, there is not a huge selection of gear oils in autoparts stores...

It is not safe for the brass syncros long term, which is why is says Non synchronized GL4. it will be fine for a while til you can put redline MT90 or another boutique but proper GL4 in the transmission.

It is fine for the transfer case

Any idea how much it lost? Overfilling gets messy.

Idk. Im not gonna drain it without finding a fill first.

Just changed the transmission. Was down a quart easy and smelled a little burned. Was very dirty and thin. No metal.

You can fill from the top on both j shift and push button. Also either manual or auto, auto requires more to be removed, but it's not difficult.

Wasn't asking you to rescue him, well if you could, that would be great. I just figured to put a local on it and hope y'all could get him at least pointed the right direction. :hattip:

You should probably buy a propane or oxy torch from lowes heat that baby up till it is red hot I mean red hot. then hammer down a pair of vice grips on that girl clamp er down so hard you thought you was pulling a baby out, then yank er lose, if that doesn't work you can take an angle grinder and cut a slit in it to either A. reieve tension and try vice grips again or B. fit a flat head in there to get that bolt off and replace it.

Use a lotta force, a 5lb sledge, a lot of heat, and a lot of muscle. A good pair of vice grips and possibly a cheater bar to fit over them is invaluable, None of this will work without the torch you have to heat everything up. I dont know if it will make the transfer case oil expand or explode but her that's exactly what I would do, do it at your own risk but it should work.

you could even just pound a hammer on the bolt itself to loosen it, break any seal or whatever.

I have worked on a lot of old rust striped or stuck bolts and these things always work for me, penetrating oil is also a must

Smack it with a ball peen hammer per @thefatkid

Take a ball-peen hammer, with the flat end hit the drain plug flat on the hex side a could times. Typically this relives the tension on the gasket allowing easy removal.
