Ya I kept the camera in the mirror, kinda like it there. I use headunit reloaded for Android auto. I ran a USB 3.0 to a blank under the HVAC. Runs great. If I do need it to be wireless, headunit reloaded has the option to work over WiFi, etc. Or I'll just use Bluetooth.

Honestly if you mess it up. Sand it down again and repaint. No that big of a deal. But if you find a cheap one to practice on, go for it :D

Yeah... things are moving along slowly, but I’m making progress! I took the time to do some frame cleanup and painting under the rear of the truck while I was doing the suspension stuff. Unfortunately, 11 winters in the Midwest had left their mark...

But the truck should be road worthy again soon and the radio install is the first thing I want to get done once it’s drivable.

Oh and, I dig your all black look with the tan interior but given my interior is black, I’d prefer to retain the silver for the two tone look. It’s just gonna depend on what silver colors of vinyl are available when I have them wrap the surround. If I can’t find a close enough match I’ll go satin black (they don’t have matte).

All that road salt and snow must be brutal. That's awesome to hear that you were able to recover from it though.

Thanks! I really like how it turned out. Took me forever to complete it lol

Good luck on the rest brother

Well, you motivated me to pull the damn thing out and disassemble it. The surround is now ready for vinyl.

Found this pretty great link that makes the head unit able to be wireless for apple car play or android auto. Now I'm on the fence if I want to get the 10.2 vs the 9" screen.

    Calling all 2.5 gens!

Okay so I just ripped out my old factory head unit and put the dasaita in. Super easy install.. but I do have a 2014 and it is just barely hanging in there.. Only secured from the top. What have you guys done to secure the bottom? Do people use the oem brackets for the 4 10mm bolts? I havn't even attempted trying to swap out the clock and hazard button yet.

The headunit itself.. I found nothing to plug the oem camera plug into? I am assuming I need to buy an adapter for this? Also, no surprise but no steering wheel controls work.. Gonna need canbus? And for the love of god as embarrassing as this is, I cant figure out the antenna wire lol I am assuming its the thick solid grey wire? The end has a plug on it for the oem head unit?

Lastly, is there any reason to keep the usb cables they give you plugged in? What are they for? And what is the HDMI imput on the back for???

I have a post on the previous page on how to hook up the camera without an adapter. All you need is an old RCA cable. That's how I have mine hooked up.

HDMI? Can you post a pic? There's 2 USB ports on the back of the HU. I have those USB cables plugged in and the ends are in the glove box.

I can only get the volume controls to work on the SW. It seems one of the 2 brown wires out of the HU is not receiving a signal. If I swap the 2 brown wires around, then the phone buttons work but volume doesn't

The USB cables can be used for data transfer, Android auto (with headunit reloaded) charging, etc. The HDMI out put on the back is an "out put" if you ever desire to have video on the head unit display on other monitors. Like head rest screens.

This HU is my third android HU. I've had 2 previous ones by Pumpkin. I have a Huawei E303 3G USB dongle that worked in both but not in this HU. The Preferred Network Type says the preferred cellular network is 2G but these units should be compatible with 3G/4G. It says so in the HU description. Anyone else using a 3G/4G dongle with these HUs? I was only able to get into cellular settings through a third party shortcut app.

That's an Android 8 version. I just installed an Android 10 unit that looks just like that in the back as per the wiring diagram but different UI. It's showing 2 different backs for it.

Do you think it would be possible to update to Android 10? Even if not, for $125, completely plug and play and everything an Android HU offers, seems like one hell of a deal. Anyone have any experience ordering from their website?

I wouldn't think there's an issue with 8. I'd compare the hardware to one with 10 on it though. The more memory the better with these things.

    I just checked...that unit has
    RAM DDR4 1GB
    ROM DDR II 512MB

I wouldn't even consider this. I'd get a min 1GB of RAM, 16GB ROM. That's what I got and it's fine for running Spotify, Youtube and Chrome. 512MB of storage is nothing. That's why the unit you are looking at is so cheap
