Hello, I recently bought a 2018 tacoma, and took it back to the dealer to get a key fob programmed. They told me the truck wasn't compatible with key fobs, and the ecu wasn't even programmed for it from the factory. Is this possible? I've had a fob on every vehicle ive had newer than 2003. Thanks.

I can't provide an answer to your question about a 2018 SR5. But my 2010 SR5 did have a key fob for remote lock and unlock, and I think it also had a Panic button. Is it possible your dealer was referring to the keyless start fob like the one that came on my 2018 TRD Sport?

Are you sure you have an SR5 trim Tacoma, and not an SR?

I don't believe keyless entry (fob) is standard on the SR trim.

Its possible they were talking about a remote start fob, but the dealer told me it was an sr5. I will look into that first, do you know the easiest way to find out my trim package? There's no badging on the tailgate.

does your truck have fog lights and intermittent wipers? SR5s have a key like in this picture. [IMG]

No fog lights, the key is just a plain old key, and I don't honeslty remember on the wipers.
