I don’t know anything about car audio what so ever. However I know I want to install better everything.

with that said for what I want I’ve gotten quotes from 4500-8000 depending on the shop. I’ve decided to save myself a little dough and do the speaker install myself and a Tacoma member for sound deadening.

my question is this, after I swap out the speakers and bring the vehicle in to have the amp and sub installed will they have to open up the doors and do anything else to the speakers? Or will those not be touched.

    thanks in advance.

I'd expect that if you asked them to stay out of the doors, they would not get in there. They might even think you're too good to be true - doors are the hardest part.

    8 grand? Whatfer?

8k for sound and deadening? I’ve never cared enough to change a sound system in any car I’ve owned but that seems insane

Those quotes are nuts man. What city are the shops in? Some cities definitely charge a premium in the bay

I’ve noticed every shop I’ve gone to a quote for decides what I need, not what I want. However I’m not going to this shop.

I just want to make sure if I do my own speakers they won’t need to touch them for amp and sub install

this is for a 4runner btw.

You want sound deadening, new door speakers/tweeters and adding subs and amp right? Even real high quality stuff should be no more than 2k installed...

Can we get a parts list for these upgrades? Almost a G just for the front speakers and tweeters?

Dear god dude. What shop was this? Their labor should be your OTD price at a normal shop. Unless you’re looking for the highest end stuff which is just asinine this is nuts. Amp should be $300-$500 max I would think

I DIY'd 6 new speakers, amp to stock head unit and compact sub for $800 with zero experience. Sounds amazing. Do your homework on the audio forum and get to work!!!

Holy shit that’s steep. I’d talk to crutchfield and watch some YouTube and knock it out yourself. It’s really not that hard

I’m going to do the speakers myself.

The shop I went to would only install focal brand. I compared the shops prices to crutchfield for parts and it was the same. I just don’t want that high end.

I’m ok with doing some stuff myself. But removing the head unit to plug in a harness and tearing about trim freaks me out. So idk if I’m cool with that.
where you live? Want some beer lollll

Head unit is the easy stuff. High end doors are hard.
