Noise enhancement

Hello I was wondering what size exhaust tip I should put on my truck. I currently have a magnaflow and want more volume. My friend put a 4 inch tip on his car and he thinks I should get a bigger size bc I have a truck. Please help thanks !!

 

4 inch is the type of exhaust you would get on a big boy truck and not a Tacoma. I have a 2.5inch exhaust pipe from my muffler back and it honestly doesn’t make it any louder really If you want loud and legal, go for a cherry bomb.

 

tip isnt really gona change the sound. its a 4 banger. id keep it quiet

 

An exhaust tip isn't going to do much to change the tone or volume. Both of those would be achieved by changing your muffler to a smaller chambered style or glasspack.

 

Oh so youre the guy who like to hear the rattle can muffler and think its cool, well im here to tell you its not, nothing funnier than a prius overtaking you up a hill on a freeway while your muffler is screaming

 

A sign saying Please pull me over or Please Stop and Frisk works just as well as a loud exhaust to make your Truck a Law Enforcement magnet

 

Clean and quiet is what you want friend. The less people that look at you, the less trouble you get in.

You are projecting a whole lot onto the situation. Yes, that is annoying but we don't know that OP is sitting in traffic revving his engine or ripping through neighborhoods.

I'm sure as a new member he appreciates all the sass about his choices for asking a straightforward question.

Since you guys are all running 4 cyls do y'all have any exhaust suggestions for the OP?

 

I have a V6 . But i like the sound of my magmaflow system with a split 3” tip

 

I'm not sure what's gonna give you better noise than the magnaflow. That's typically what folks 'upgrade' to with the 2.7L 4 banger.
One guy has a glass pack I think. I'm sure that thing makes plenty of noise.

Just run open headers

 

Roll down your window, stick your head out and scream "HEY WORLD I DRIVE A SLOOOOOOOOOOOW TRUCK!"

That will be a less annoying way to do the exact same thing. Cheap too.

I agree that a Tacoma has just a plain vanilla workhorse engine and nothing exotic. To be honest a V6 doesn’t sound that cool. The only 4 cyl I even thought was remotely pleasing was in my brother in laws rare Saab Viggen turbo. I enjoy a large block cross plane V8. Now I really like the sound of the mustang GT350 with the flat plane V8. My absolute favorite engine note (and you can make fun of me) is a 2-cycle Detroit Diesel. Don’t hear that one on the road anymore thanks to emission killing. I’m over 60 and remember many diesels plowing up the mouth of the canyon by my house in the freeway. Many were those Detroit Diesels. You young guys do some youtubeing and listen what a real workhorse engine sounds like.
