@slander @Snowy you guys know better than this. If you don’t have tons and 40s you don’t even wheel man. Well that’s of course unless you have long travel and a gfc or whatever the overland .3rd gen guys have now.

but for real. Stock tacoma rear e locker held up to 35s, 37s and a few runs of 39s before I put the 609 in. And I wasn’t nice to it on 37s at all hoping it would break to motivate me to finish the 609.

front axle (mini truck internals) is still going strong without a single failure (knock on wood) besides shearing studs on the knuckle due to lack of maintenance but fixed with the 5th stud. Honestly the last time I broke before the studs was almost 4 years later and it was a u joint right before the tcase in the rear end but it somehow held together and finished a trail in sand hollow and drove out through the sand dunes.

I'm convinced that the front survives since the axle tubes dont deflect and the 1/2" flange the diff mounts to doesnt budge. Helps keep all in check.

I keep saying when I build a buggy/something else I’ll build a 609. But figuring whatever I build next will be lighter than this thing I’m thinking maybe I won’t till I start having issues.

Now that o said all this, watch on the rubicon I’ll break and ruin the entire trip and it’ll be something in the front axle.

Yeah, I was nervous about 40s. But honestly, not so much anymore.

The rear disk conversion would just be for looks and maybe weight savings. I kept the drums because they work great and and at under 5k, they will probably never need to be changed in the next few years.

I really like the ORI but they're not great for high speed if you do it. I think that's actually going to be my next big purchase.

Fortunately I don't do much high speed

My buddy talked me out of buying his Fox coilovers. He made some good points about the tuning required and asked if I was really going to do all the work to dial them in right, or more likely be the guy randomly swapping coils hoping to find the right settings or just leaving them in an undesirable configuration

I'm not even sure links will given the limited space between the pumpkin and the knuckle on the driver side

I was thinking about that, my fucking eBay headers are trash and I should probably do the whole exhaust system while I'm at things

Got out this weekend and played a bit. Few videos below for viewing pleasure.

Few dents, a broken window, and bent sliders keeping the front doors from opening are the takeaway. No major breaks but definitely the hardest trail I have ran to date. Eager to get things fixed up and get out again.
