I believe I gave a good suggestion to Arisian, who has a camera which is warm even if the truck is off. It would suggest it is always powered.

Correct, I have it wired into my blue sea fuse box - but I'm ignorant of what the process should be for making sure it switches off when the truck is off - perhaps I need a switch between the blue sea and the battery?

 

I suggest you use switched power. On the radio, you have 2 12V power wires. Yellow and Red. The red one is connected to switched power, which is only powered when the ignition is on. The Yellow wire is used for memory functions and has 12V all the time.
Unless you have switched power in your blue sea fuse box, I would not use it for things that don’t have a switch to power them on or off.
There are also many fuses you can tap into using an add-a-fuse in the driver side fuse box at the kick panel. Some are switched and some have constant 12 volts.

That does help. Basically find a switched fuse slot in the oem fuse box, add a fuse piggy back /add-a-circuit - Run that power to the camera

I'm slightly confused with the software bypass comments. There's no need to disconnect GPS to "listen" to video when driving correct? I've read the last several pages and that's the only thing that has me scratching my head. Sorry if I missed the answer in there somewhere.

 

correct. Software bypass works for watching video while in motion.
However the keyboard in Google Maps and in Apple Maps, still don’t work while the vehicle is in motion.

 

Do you need to use the ODBII cable that comes with the TO2 harness? Thanks!

 

Are all the plug ins in the back the same As stock jbl? I want to keep my wiring to my switch pro and front cam

I am on my second pioneer unit in this truck, an

$400 avh-2400nex 7" touchscreen double din android auto and apple carplay in-dash DVD/CD bluetooth car stereo receiver

avh-2400nex, and now the DMH-wc7600nex. I have not used the obd2 connector, and still can access the tpms, doors open, RPM, temps, etc.. I do not believe it gives you any more options using the actual obd2 connection. I also have ovtune, and know that it will not load if I don't go in and disable the obd2 connection through oem settings on the pioneer deck.

 

Just a quick note that hopefully saves somebody a headache. I wanted to put in a matte screen protector because I didn't like the reflection and fingerprints with the stock radio. So I removed the stock screen protector. DO NOT do this....it was a huge pain in the ass because it breaks into pieces as you remove it and you are left with a bunch of residual glue. After a few hours of elbow grease I finally got 99% off but I do not recommend this. I almost passed out when I started thinking I had just ruined my $900 radio. If I had it to do over again I would just put it over the built it screen protector. Hope my experience helps somebody out!

 

Got mine installed and everything is working except the firmware transfer. I can connect using the CarAVAssist app just fine but everytime I try to transfer it fails. I have read and reread the manual and read every post in this thread. I have tried it every which way possible. Anyone have any tips?

 

@svermilyea Morning. A couple post back someone stated they peeled off the oem film that came on their pioneer unit and it was a nightmare, recommending for people to not do this. My screen glass protectors came in last week and I am going to install one soon. Did u pull off the pioneer oem screen protector? Just curious. I have never had any issues before, but definitely don't want a nightmare on my hands. lol Please let me know if u installed the glass over the pioneer film, or removed it and then installed the glass?

I had the same issue & the OP pointed me in the right direction. You need to go into the settings on your radio and do it. There’s instructions several pages back on how to do it.

 

@TiHo Did u go into the settings screen and select (firmware) or firmware update? Something like this? I know you have to be connected to AVassist and then go into the settings and select update firmware to download the update. I tried multiple times to just download the update by doing it from my phone multiple times. wasn't until I went into settings and selected the software update did it work. The instructions posted somewhere in this forum are what I ultimately used.

Yes, I pulled off the OEM screen protector (mine had a slightly peeled up edge and was causing me OCD issues). It is really stuck on there, but take your time and it will come off. The glue on the protector is very sticky. I used Turtle Wax Label and Sticker remover and a soft cotton cloth to remove the remaining glue (this is also what I used to de-badge my truck). Then I wiped down the screen with rubbing alcohol before using the prep pads and installing the tempered glass screen protector.
