Norcal Spotted and BS Thread

4Runner is still registered in VA. Prius is in CA. Should have a CA license next week-ish.
The majority of my fishing experience is salt water since I’ve lived on the beach all my life, until CA. And a lot of that, including all the fish above, were speared (I have no lungs anymore, haven’t done any breathing training since moving). I’m under the anticipation that most of my west coast fishing will be fresh water. I’ve caught some largemouth bass here and there but no experience with any fresh water trout or anything else

 

Bass and trout fishing are both very, very good in Cali. I prefer trout on ultralight set-ups personally but fishing is fishing.

 

Yeah, I get that. Just need the right gear and all. Need to research what that is too

 

I won't speak for the bass fisherman but if you want to know how to catch big trout and what to get them on I'd be happy to point you in the right direction. A lot is also dependent on budget. I use mid-range reels and rods. Not because I can't afford the higher end shit but because the price/performance gains aren't worth it to me. Some guys like to point out there $500 reals though. Iol

Although it wouldn't surprise me at all if Cali did actually make you take a course to get something as simple as a fishing license.

Did a google search and all I see are boating safety courses.
Nothing about fishing.

Haven’t been out spear fishing in a while. Since they shut down abalone diving I’ve lost interest, but I do want to try my hand at lobster.

 

I guess I fall in the "would not be surprised" category.

 

I wouldn't be surprised in the least, but that's all I'm going to say on the subject.

 

I don’t need anything fancy. Caught plenty as a kid with a spongebob rod. Midrange stuff is plenty fine for me. I’ll may end up taking you up on some direction. I really need to read up too.

That's the one. Fast MF'er. I was fully loaded with a dirt bike on the hitch carrier. Couldn't keep up to save my life (or MPG).
