So with a 5 channel install i've always ran my own speaker wires from the amp to the door speakers. Thats going to be the most labor intensive portion of the install, but still very easy. A few bolts to remove the front and rear seats, pull up the carpet, run your wires behind the pillar and kick panel plastics and feed them through the existing wiring sleeves connected to the doors.

What i'm not sure of is how you plan to get signal from the factory head unit to the amp for the door speakers. Typically you would use an aftermarket head unit.

Also, like others have said, buy the items from crutchfield. They come with a lot of helpful items that you could need.

Dude, you're in the Bay area of CA right? Give Mr. Marv a call. If he can't do it for you he can at least point you in the right direction.

How did they define "sound deadening"? We talking 50% cld on everything, ccf on %90, and mlv all over? Or are they talking about throwing some cld on the doors and back wall? If the former, thats a steal, but i doubt it.

As for audio set up, putting a Helix psix mk2, front three (audio frogs are splendid), and even a power wedge behind the seats would produce quite an extraordinary sound experience. Take it one step further, get another amp for a sub and box from Mr Marv and you aren't going to do much better without really going crazy. Nice to see someone is helping you out with cld, that stuff is great on doors and back wall.

He's a legend, a wood working master, audio expert, and has connections to get whatever you need.

I drove down all the way from Seattle just to pick up a box/amp board and to bullshit with him. Spoke with him yesterday and he has some other things cooking that I don't want to spoil because I know he is getting backed up. Can't recommend him enough.

can I get a link or his yelp?

and to the other post. No, just 3 layers on the doors and hatch. The dude was persistent on only installing high end in my vehicle and nothing else. As he’s a “high end shop”

I don't think he has time, but never hurts to ask. He also might have a wait because of demand, but if you were to pick up local he usually speeds things up for you. Don't hesitate to call or text him during those hours, hes one of the nicest guys I have ever dealt with in the car audio arena. Don't worry about him pushing anything on you too, he's not a sales guy.

thanks, I found a shop and ended up going with an alpine under seat 8” sub. Overall replacing 6 speakers, 2 tweeters, adding a 5channel amp and sub with labor and converter box (no clue what it’s real name is) will cost me around 2700. Including sound deadening the speaker. area. All equipment is alpine R series.

will be getting this done by mid August after Toyota fixes my dash. (A tech destroyed part of my dash with a flat head screwdriver trying to fix something in the dash. Used a flat head to pry apart the dashboard smh)

    Thanks for the help amigos.

The price is good but I think you're going to be disappointed in that under seat sub! Those things are super shallow and don't have any movement.
I'm serious, talk to Mr Marv. He's been doing it for a number of years. He will lead onto the right path!

Truer words have not been spoken. Do a search for Mr Marv Tacoma sub in google, there is a reason he is in such demand.
