    Hello,
First post. Just bought a 2013 Toyota Tacoma. The backup camera was in the mirror so I bought the conversion kit from Camera Source to move it to the radio. Well in trying to put one of the wires in the harness it snapped off. There is still enough wire to crimp but not sure how to crimp and what is needed. Any assistance would be great. Thanks

If that wire was part of the Kit that you purchased the maker may be willing to supply you with the needed wire and connector.

Yeah it is attached in another connection so they'd have to send me a whole new connection.

Post the number on the plastic connector that goes into and we can give you the part number for a pigtail from Toyota.

Solder and a soldering iron would fix that in seconds.

This is the info and all the pieces that came with it. So it's the red wire that was broke off as you can see in the picture that needed to go into the back of the 28 pin harness. It is what is the reverse wire that I would tap in to.

So just strip back the wire a little bit and then solder?

You can either solder it right on top of the portion where the red insulation is or you can spread apart the crimp in the same spot, remove the insulation, insert the new wire, recrimp, and then solder it. Either way it'll work forever.

My problem was I couldn't get the little tab to lift on the harness all the way. Never had to do the before. I've installed several radios but they pretty much been all plug and play. So when I was trying to open the tab to lift the door of the harness it wouldn't lift up all the way which I'm not even sure if it's supposed to. And then I tried to force the wire in there and it's snapped off. so hopefully when I get all this soldered maybe it'll be a little sturdier to be able to push it in there. Either way thanks... I'll try this sometime today.

If you artfully (lol) put tension on the wire forcing it to stay in the plastic plug and zip tie the harness while tension is applied it'll last forever.

:oldglory:soldering where the red insulation is, is easier

This worked!! Sorry just got around to doing it again. We also installed a pop and lock for automated locks and just waited until that came in to do everything. Thanks for everyone's help. Now on to plug and play remote start :fingerscrossed:
