I'd say very easy, and I've never installed a winch before this one. I did need an extra set of hands for one part, and that was to screw in the two upper mounting bolts while I held the winch in place, which my wife could do by hand without tools while standing right in front of the truck.

The clutch handle end needed clocked, which was WAY easier than I woulda expected, even though the instructions are completely wrong that came with it. It said to remove two bolts and spin it... those two bolts wouldn't have done anything. Just removed the seven around the casing on the clutch side, spun it 90 degrees, screwed them back in. Done. Didn't have to pull it apart at all, just spin it in place.

The winch control unit I mounted in the side position over the motor, and mounted it after mounting the winch. I say over the motor, but it's technically between the winch motor and the engine of the Tacoma, since the whole winch is mounted bottom/feet forward. Was a little tight, but not hard. I did not clock the motor, and the cables had plenty of length to get to the battery. To attach the wired remote, you need to pop the hood, but from there you have easy access down to the on-off switch and the cable connection. I have small hands and could reach through the front of the bumper to the on-off switch, but that would prolly be difficult for most normal sized men, lol.

I didn't find it to be TOO much of a big deal on the freespool lever, but i also tested out using a small crescent wrench through the large hand hole on top of the bumper directly on the lever and it made it easy to disengage. Re-engaging isn't an issue, since the lever will be more easily accessible. If you have any more questions let me know!

Any <$100-ish seat cover recommendations? I don't want to be worried about staining my seat covers…

Changed transfer case and front diff fluid (w/Mobil1 75-90).

Replaced OEM front diff drain Allen key plug with Lexus? plug.

Replaced OEM transfer case drain plug with aftermarket magnetic plug.

I know they aren't less than $100.... but the Wet Okole were a great investment. I've had them for over 8 years. Some of the piping on the driver side seat where I slide in and out finally wore through, but that hasn't hurt anything fit-wise. They fit PERFECT, look great, and wear very well. You would have them for years without worry. I see them pop up used on tacomaworld once in awhile. Keep your eyes peeled. I'd take them used over more generic new covers most anyday (unless they were obviously in bad shape)

Busy weekend. Installed my @mattgecko led kit finally. Not sure why I put this off so long. Very pleased with the results and can’t wait to use these. Going to make a huge difference when the family camps.
Got frustrated with my aux fuse panel while wiring up my bed lights so I grabbed the dremel and cut an access slot to get to the bolts. Probably the most rewarding mod! Getting that panel out would cause me so much anxiety and frustration.

Did the Subaru tweeter mod. Super simple and amazing the difference in sound. Again, not sure why I waited so long to do this.
Washed the truck and lubed the Total Choas UCAs and rotated the tires.
Also, not Tacoma stuff but wrapped up an IronMan4x4 foam cell pro install on the FJ and replaced the sway bar bushings on the front and rear with some Whiteline and Nolathane ones. That thing is practically Australian at this point! Also, swapped the stock camera for an aftermarket one but retained the factory position in the rear mounted spare. Finished it off by doing the power steering fluid flush and refill.

I have CoverKings and love em. They're black neosupreme, very easy to clean and very comfortable. Almost like a wet suit material. They come with a two year warranty.

I got mine front and rear used for $350 shipped I think... If you factor in buying a new set for $100 every year or 2 b/c they are cheaper and wear though then it's becomes more expensive then if you found some Wet Okole's for a deal here. I've seen them around that price a hand full of times over the last year or so. Just keep checking the marketplace if you're not in a huge hurry.

I love how they look but I tend get sweaty/dirty and then hop in the truck, plus covid has me eating take out in the truck on road trips instead of inside way more than normal. I just wouldn't want to worry about ruining a set of wet okoles but appreciate the recommendation.

Thanks - I'll check those out!

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
If someone has an issue w/ something (especially if it's against CoC or questionable), take it to the reports/chat with staff and don't take it upon yourself to try and exert your own opinion.

    Thanks

I just popped the ball joint off the spindle, taped off the boot and ball joint and used a big piece of cardboard to catch any overspray!

They clean up super easy! I've gotten so much stuff spilled on them. Strawberry jam came out ... bits of chocolate bar... greasy fries...

3rd Brake light option looks great!

I started searching for one that does white and red. So far it has only been yellow and white.

I accidentally put power steering fluid into the brake fluid reservoir. After a brief moment of freaking out I sucked it all out half a dozen times, refilling it with brake fluid to make the ps fluid float to the top each time.

Finally all came out watery, so I'm hoping no real damage done.
