    Hello Tacoma World!

I am very new to owning a Tacoma, got mine 3 weeks ago.

I am changing the wheels to the TRD Pro 17X7 wheels along with 265/70/R17 Toyo Open Country AT3's.

What I am trying to figure out is, should I be worried about any rubbing at all with this setup?

I also just ordered a Rough Country 2 inch leveling kit just in case I need it. I am still unsure if I want to have a shop which will only charge me 200 to install the spacers and do an alignment to tinker with my new truck. This shop stays really busy and the workers come and go.

My ultimate question is will the 17 inch TRD Pro wheels 265 70 R17 setup work without the leveling kit and could this setup still do what a stock Tacoma OR 4x4 can do with the 16 inch wheels??

    Thanks in advance!

There may be slight rubbing on your mud flaps.

    4runner 17's rub with 265 70 17's typically, but very slightly.

You will be fine with that set-up. I've run that size stock suspension on stock sport wheels.

Because everybody complained about how hard it is to keep the matte wheels clean...

Alignment is the key, all these trucks are slightly different. I have two and no where even close to rubbing.

I was concerned about the different offset in the 4 Runner wheels so I drew it up in cad to see exactly what it looked like.
The 4 Runner wheels will push your tires 3/4" to the outside and give you 1-1/4" more clearance on the inside. The 4 Runner wheels are also narrower.

I've got (4) new wheels in the box waiting in the garage for my new MT Sport being delivered in a couple of weeks.

Will still work on stock suspension.

I was about to buy the 2020 TRD Pro wheels, but think I will wait now. Anyone have an idea when the 2021s should be available?

I decided to fix it and not let it bug me, and thanks to a fellow member, when I need new tires, the wheels will get powder coated bronze.

disagree completely. Mine are washed once a week and rotated with no power tools. Maybe I got a bad finish?????

Edit: paint still looks new. Just chipped to hell. I have never used a matte cleaner. Just clean them a lot. Nice and black, clean etc. just a shame I have to ask a tire place to not use power tools

not a single wheel that doesn’t have some chip in it. They are a year and a half old. My 17 year old M3 factory wheels looked better. Also, I had better results with a spray painted wheel on my cobra. I used an impact on it and no issues

Screenshot_20200721-082537.jpg Again, mine have 20k miles been rotated and balanced every 5k miles, perfect condition. In fact my son's wheels are in the same perfect condition. Maybe because we have gray matted finish, ceramic coating has been applied. We only use Murphy's oil soap and water to clean our wheels. It works for us.

my only guess would be color. I have looked at a good number of them (I have 4 trucks with them in my apartment complex) and they all have the same issue I do. Thankfully it’s not noticeable when standing back, so I haven’t really messed with it. Just use water to clean mine with a microfiber
