Since this thread blew up like it did i figure ill throw up some output shots of this setup. This is the same FX-R setup. The yellow you see in some pics are my fogs.

Thanks for posting those Kris. Those shots are awesome. The high beams on these FX-R's are crazy bright, the beam goes up so high. Those yellow fogs look pretty damn bright too. What lights do you have in your license plate lights? They are very bright, I think I might just have to copy you...again. Lol

So I decided to upgrade my 35w bulbs and ballasts to the 50w kit. I should have all the parts next week. I will post pics of the difference between the two. :D

what was the reason behind this? I may be looking to do this in the future.... what was the cost of the new ballast and lights? still going with 4500k?

I was just curious to see how much brighter the 50w kits are compared to the 35w kits. The guys at TRS hooked me, I placed 2 more FX-R orders today so they threw them in for me to try out. :D I decided to try out the 6000K and see how I like them. I have an account setup with them now so if you decide to switch them let me know and I might be able to get you a discount. Never hurts to try right? :)

Im glad youre going with the 6000k.... thats the original color i wanted.... be sure to post up pics of them ASAP..... if it looks good then i will make the transition..... Also, if you dont mind, can you pm me some pics of how you mounted the projectors to the bowl? i really just want verification that I did an OK job with mine. I just used long screws and nuts and washers.

Yeah, I like having just a hint of blue and with the 50w kit it shouldn't sacrifice lumens, it should still be brighter than the 35w 4300K's. I will definitely post pics once I get them in. I will do before and afters and also get pics after I change just one so everyone can see the difference side by side.

I'm not sure I have any pictures of that, I will check though. That's exactly what I did, just used long screws, washers and nuts to bolt them to the reflector bowl then I epoxied the back of the projector to the reflector bowl and also all 4 nuts so they could never come loose. I hope I never have to change them. Lol

Yeah, definitely. That's why I epoxied the he'll out of everything so it couldn't move. Lol Hopefully nothing goes wrong with them. If so, they might be for sale for really cheap. Lol jk.

For the money we spent on the lights, TRS can fix them if they ever go bad. Lol

Actually you should get SLIGHTLY less output with 6K bulbs and the more powerful ballasts running them along with much worse performance in dust and fog.

6K is a wannabe color so people using halogen reflectors can look like they have your blueish color of you HIDs at the top edge of your cutoff... a purely negative byproduct of projector design. If that blueish cutoff could be completely removed it would be much better and why people use FX-R with a clear lens to get a shaprper and more blue cut off (both purely negative aspects of projector hoods) is beyond me... but to use blue head lights AND go for a bluer and sharper cut off? I have to wonder why.

I have some striaght facotry FX projectors going in my truck. Id never swap out my nice frosted lenses and reduced color cutoff line. I will take the better performance of the stock set up. Just like I would not install an exhaust that sounded cool and cut 10 HP from my enginge vs stock.

A 6000k 50w bulb will be BRIGHTER than a 35w 4300k bulb. You are adding 15 more watts which will give it much more output. Yes, 6000k will be a little less than a 4300k, but not when pairing it with a more powerful bulb/ballast. As far as dust and fog...I live in Phoenix, AZ, I'm not too worried about it.

Clear lenses give you a sharper cut off which looks much better than a cut off that just fades away. But hey, that's why they are MY headlights and not yours. I'm not asking you to change your setup, I was just letting other people know what I'm going to try. It's very simple to switch back if I don't like it. Sorry to be a dick, but there's really no point for you to post a comment on MY thread if your just going to be negative. I will build my lights how I want, and you do whatever you want with yours. Thanks for the free bump though! :D

    Here are a few pictures of a 50w 6000k bulb vs a 35w 4300k bulb.
