I have the JBL upgrade System on my 2019 and my base is crazy actually have to tune it down some since it will vibrate my rear view mirror. My system sounds pretty darn good have 0 complaints I’m not an audiophile but I’m happy.

2020 premium w/ JBL. All of my bass comes from the front door speakers. You can put your head right next to the sub with the volume at 40 and it barely feels like anything is coming out of it.

2020 Limited. Sub is good for what it is, levels are flat. You can definitely tell there is a sub in the truck. I typically use Bluetooth unless I’m plugged in for CarPlay. Plugged in is a noticeable improvement over BT in overall sound quality.

I played Creed's "One" with the treble and bass all the way up, and the mid about midway. I also have
the EQ on my Iphone in the OFF position. It's not Taco/Vehicle rattling, but the bass was very noticeable, enough
to vibrate the mirrors. Plugged in sounds a lot better than via BT.

I have a 2020 with the JBL System.

Just tried Hotel California through Spotify Bluetooth. Not much bass,. I checked the bass and treble and did notice it must be separately set then the SiriusXM source settings I had already turned up. It helped a little. I think the JBL sub does alright on lower bass notes like clubby hiphop songs on the satellite source. I also haven't used Spotify much I still have the xm free trial. Just my opinion, it would of been better If I had heard hotel on xm to take the source out of the equation.

Do you think this is normal or is it worth a trip to the dealer?

2019 Pro with JBL, Hotel California (2013 Remaster, if that matters) downloaded onto my phone from Amazon Music, played over Bluetooth, plenty of bass from mine.

Same here and in my head, I'm comparing it to a Bose system that was in my Grand Prix (amazing sound) and my theater room.

It's exponentially better than what I had in my 2005 Pilot!

My 2020 OR w/ JBL had, in my opinion, really weak bass and overall sound quality from the factory. I swapped out the OEM sub with a Kicker shallow sub and added a Rockford amp. Also changed all 6 speakers for JBL GTO. Sounds good now. :)

I was under the impression removing the factory Jbl amp wasn’t possible, how did you get around that?

I didn't remove the factory amp; it is still powering the 4 door speakers and 2 dash speakers.

    Here is what I did:
    1. Removed factory sub/box
    2. Ran the wires from the factory sub to a line-out converter (converts to RCAs)
    3. Installed new Rockford Amp (plus new wiring) and Kicker sub
    4. Relocated the factory JBL amp to underneath the rear seat (this is an optional step)
    5. Done

Sounds like they turned the bass down a lot for 2020. All three of us who responded, and who have 2020's, have reported the bass is really weak. Those with 2019 and below all report strong bass. I wonder why???

What I’m interested in is reclaiming the space behind that seat, I want the cubby that the non Jbl version has. This may require me to relocate the amp (did you find instructions on TW?)

if I’m going to do that I might as well figure out a place to put a proper bass/amp as needed.

which door speakers are a direct replacement?

That is very odd. Can confirm, 2016 with JBL needs no help. I run mine 1 bar above half because on some songs I have it will be obnoxious. I would try different songs, phone settings and source settings.

Not sure where you are going to put a sub if you want the cubby... You can likely put a sub IN the cubby, but it kind of defeats the purpose of the cubby, and it will likely rattle.

Relocating the amp is pretty simple - just have take off some of the wiring loom, reroute the wires running to the amp, and extend one wire. If you have any wiring experience at all... this is really easy.

Any 6x9 or 6.5 should fit in the front (6.5 requires a Metra adapter). Just order from Crutchfield by entering in your truck - they give you everything you need including adapters for mounting and wiring. I replaced mine with the following. Everything fit really well:

Would it be possible for you to copy the mp3 in question to a flash drive and try it in the USB port on the dash?
