Dude my one buddy is a plumber and often when we would mtnbike on the weekends, he'd be on-call...often after explaining how much a Saturday, or worse Sunday van in the driveway alone cost, and how he wasn't making that that money...just what the company policy/rate schedule was, often they'd just call back Monday, but a few times the calls were more emergency based.

Anyways, glad it's fixed, sorry they hit you that hard in the wallet...I have electricians, carpenters, welders/pipe fitters, and plumbers as best friends of 20+ years now...but no HVAC friend, so so sadly I cannot get HVAC work done for beer and pizza/home made meals.

 

This week sucks. I'm headed back up to PA next weekend and the next week and a half are gonna crawl.

 

Let me know if you find a firestone in the area thats any good. They basically told me last time to go away because I had a lift. The 18 year old tech didn't want to hear that maybe he wasn't experienced enough to know what he was doing.

 

You forgot the 200% mark-up on the part.

I was an HVAC tech through the nineties, so well aware of how it all works. Felt bad when I had to charge someone for a 1 hour minimum when I got there and found someone had switch the t-stat off, so literally a 30sec fix. Luckily for me, I had 40hr week contracts with our commercial clients. So 99% of my calls I ran were to them. I did not work for a company where I only got paid based on what I billed. Every now and then I would run a residential call in customer. Hate those and always tried to cut them a break. For techs that only get paid based on what they bill, they have to (over)charge to make up for the time they are not running calls.

 

Well I'll be going to the closest one which from the in-laws is the one in Sandston.

 

Bro-in-law did his wifes Heep there last fall and said it was only like $140 or so, and assuming they don't listen to my recommendation/setting preference, they'll at least get me good for a "standard" setup...that's when I will likely end up testing a local off road mechanic shop not far from me in West Point/Mattaponi

 

I have not tried that one yet. I think I have been to just about every firestone on the south side of the James I finally found a place called Bach alignment and frame that understands trucks with modified suspension.

80$ is what they charge me. They actually don't use a alignment machine. The tech does it old school.

Don't think I remember/recall you mentioning it, but Balch is only 32 mins via rt 150 to get 301/us 1 vs. hopping on 95.

Might be a better option for overall desired end result.

EDIT: Damn just saw they're M-F operation. Perhaps I'll find a way to get to them M-F, but with my 90+mile daily commute, I imagine alignment of some sort, even an DIY IS required for safe driving operations.

 

capacitors are cheap and easy to replace; check em when you have the covers off or make a list what you have and just replace them and then keep the old ones as spares.

Well ima outa the Tacoma world. But I’ve found the perfect MPG/light towing truck. 2020 ram 1500 eco diesel. I’m average 30.4 mpg combine.
