May I suggest that you go down a clip and upgrade to the bilstein 650lb coils so that your warranty is kept. 700lb coils will brake your warranty, add too much stress to your suspension without weight and armor up front, and it will add a likelihood of premature shock failure.

I don't have my 6112's installed. But am curious as to what it is like with the sway bars off? Obviously you're not with the 600 lbs coil but would you recommend taking them off permanently?

I have had my sway bar off for the past two years. I have the 6112's with 650lb bilstein springs. As long as you be aware of you speed around corners and Don't be stupid, you will love it. I will never go back to having one.

I've heard it's much better. But man I have shitty fucking luck. Idk if I wheel hard enough to justify removing them.

I would be looking to keep the current height, no higher. I can see why they wouldn't warranty them with aftermarket coils but I'm not sure the 650's would be enough to make a difference. I've see others wishing they would have just jumped to a 700lb spring.

I actually like it. The first few minutes are a little odd but it rides much better, especially over rough roads while turning. Kind of reminds me of the videos of desert trucks accelerating and turning. Keep in mind though I have a TRD Sport which has a thicker sway bar so it was a bit harsh before, also I have a wider stance from the offset on my wheels which I have read helps. I notice the truck does move quite a bit more when I get in (240lbs ish) vs when I had the sway bar in. I think I'll drive it like this for a week or so and re-install the sway bar and see how it goes. In all reality I'll likely re-install it as my wife drives it sometimes when I'm deployed and she isn't the most observant driver..... I'd like to find a TRD OR sway bar as they are thinner.

It makes a huge difference. I had 600lb ones, then added a bumper, and full skid plate trio. It went down about 5/8 of an inch front when I first took measurements after I put in the suspension. I put in the 650 and kept it on the same notch and went right back up my original measurements before the armor. 700lbs without weight is going to ride very high and very stiff without weight.

Thats very good to hear! I've seen some posts just saying to go straight to 700lb coils. But thats with pretty much full armor. My future plans are sliders and maybe a "slimline style" bumper plus better skid plates. I'm trying to be realistic with my truck as I'm not able to go wheeling regularly (western IA, meaning I have to drive 5+ hrs to do any decent trails) and I don't go crazy on the trails....I try to be smart anyhow. haha

I'm running 700# springs, top notch, no sway bar, bumper, winch. 2nd gen, 4.0L

Truck rides nice, a little more body roll in the corners. I have had to make several emergency maneuvers - no problems.

For those of you with a third gen, the 700# springs and run a winch, bumper and another 150# of armor, what clip did you set them at to get back to 2" of lift?
I've lost close to an inch on the stock 600# springs at 6/5

Do you notice much of a drop when you get in the truck? I notice the truck dips quite a bit when I get in with the sway bar removed, which was somewhat expected but more than I was expecting. I don't know how much it dips as far as a measurement but I would guess around 3/4" after it settles, granted I am like 240lbs too.

    I don't notice any drop.

You have me curious now - I'll get a tape measure and see.

I just noticed it when I was getting on my step to clean my windshield. I was thinking "damn....I need to start working out again" haha

I'm sure when I am actually in the truck the weight is more centered and it isn't as much of a drop though.

Been researching a ton of ways to lift my truck over the past couple weeks. It seems you guys have a lot of positive things to say about the 6112s. My understanding is that on the 6/5 setting you get 2" of lift. Is this what most are seeing? If I go with the 6112s, I will do 5100s in the rear with a single AAL. Also is this the best bang for my buck? My truck as it sits right now

Sounds like it would be a good set up. I've heard the 3 leaf AAL is better than the single. Regardless the truck will handle/drive much better with the 6112/5100.

Considering the 6112/5160 combo and I already have SPC UCA's and a new to me HD Dakar pack. I have a shell and plan on buying a roof rack + a RTT, do you think the HD Dakar pack is still too much, I've heard so many mixed reviews about this pack and that people sometimes step down to the MD version by taking out leaf#3.

600 or 650 pound coil? I have no armor besides sliders and I will probably buy an aluminum IFS to save weight as I don't do anything too serious. Running 285/75/16's E Load (prob will not go back to E Load again once I run the tread). I do mostly on-road driving though I'd love to take it out more to go camping (especially when the RTT comes in). My current setup of 5100's have been good, not great and I am looking for just an overall upgrade.

Also, can the 5160 reservoir piggy back? Or does it have to be mounted to the frame?

The 6112's will definitely be an upgrade but from my experience so far, the 5160's are just not very good. My rears seem to bottom out quite a bit on the bumps where the 6112's shine. You can get the billet aluminum piggy back bracket but they don't come with them in the kit and they are kind of pricey. I'm already looking to switch my rears to a set of Fox shocks with only a 1000 or so miles on my 5160's.

That's good to know! Alternatively, I was recommended the 5125s and may go that route instead.

I have the HD Dakars, a camper shell and a roof rack. I routinely carry about 100lbs in the back of my truck which would equal your RTT. It would be fine. I moved up from the mediums because they started to sag.

Please do what I did. Start with the 600lb coils and then move up to the 650lb coils if there is a need. If you don't have any armor now adding 650lb coils will be a rough ride. Then when you start adding the armor, you can add to coils.

I know some would say that the 5160's are no good with the HD dakars but I have had no issues with my 5160's and have tembrens in the rear to help out. Mine is a 2nd gen like yours but a DCLB, so make sure you focus on your driveline angles due to having a short bed.

Thanks for the reply Jared! Good to know about the HD Dakars & 5160's. Any issues with your 6112's, also which notch did you end up on?
