I wear one too, I'm not "that guy" at the store. I just think if everyone stopped, this virus would burn out faster and the economy could recover.

If they do no good then it will burn out just as fast wearing them.

I knew someone would say that. Maybe they do slow the virus slightly, but they sure won't stop it, just delay the inevitible.

I honestly don’t know. Either strategy could be right or wrong. All I know is this country hasn’t done a good job of anything related to covid 19.

Well our "expert" doctors sure didn't help with different (opposite) guidance, depending on the week.

Good call, I moved a portion to cash to buy back at the dip. Work on lowering that average price

... and slowing it down / delaying it has been the whole point -- avoid overwhelming capacity to care for folks with severe symptoms, and to provide some time for treatment protocols to be developed/improved.

Should a vaccine becomes available sooner vs later, that may represent a respite for folks who may have a higher risk of requiring hospitalization whether due to age or underlying medical conditions such as asthma.

Touche. I know that was the goal. This is why I am not calling the shots, I'd rather sacrifice a little more death for the well being of our country in all other aspects.

There's no perfect answer - every path has some "harm" done to some folks. Whether it's lockdown and increases in suicides / domestic abuse / small business owners losing everything - or whether it's opening up and some folks get sick, some spend time in a hospital bed, and others die.

Tough call - glad I'm not the one who has to make it - because no matter what choice is made, some will say it's wrong.

Sweden has 10+ million people with about 5,600 coronavirus deaths. I know there are factors like population density that come into play, but Sweden did pretty damn good.

Hmm.... last I had read, Sweden was doing awesome having not locked down anything. Now they seem to have changed the narrative.
I honestly don't trust anything anymore. It all seems too orchestrated and deliberate to me.

I try to ignore the politics. If 5k people died out of 10m, I don't think Sweden would have even noticed that this virus existed if it wasn't for the media.

The numbers as always can be spun for either argument. But what they did was made a decision and stuck to it. And they haven’t been afraid to admit that maybe it didn’t work as well as they hoped, there are some things they didn’t anticipate, but they didn’t fold. And I’d bet they actually learned something for the future. We tried to appease everyone, screwed ourselves worse than pretty much any other country, and changed so many variables that we have no idea what works and what doesn’t.

I sure don't have the answer, but I don't think anyone else does either. I think you hit the nail on the head, developing a plan and sticking to it might be the answer. Constantly changing is a disaster, as we can see playing out here. Maybe if we all wore masks starting in January the virus would be gone? Or maybe if we did absolutely nothing it would be gone? Changing the plan daily is ridiculous.
