That's a pretty tough question to answer. To be honest, its going to be a snowball effect; you're always going to want more. I would say that properly tuned factory replacement coilovers and rear shocks can go a long way. I have heard mixed reviews about Accutune, but I had good luck with them when I had a factory coilover setup and my current LT setup. Brands that manufacture a factory replacement: king, icon, fox, ADS

If you want to know what goes into a long travel setup, this is a good place to start: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/considering-long-travel-read-here-first.180457/
...but this is also a significant jump from the OME setup.

Not trying to be a smart ass, but airing down your tires can make a significant difference on the beach. May not even have to change your setup for what you are doing

Exactly what I needed man thank you. And your right, I didnt air down today because I didnt bring a compressor with me. This truck is paid off and strictly a weekend warrior when I feel like it so making it uncomfortable to drive on the street is purely my wifes problem.

I've always been drawn to trophy trucks rather than beadlock jeep crawlers, just trying to live life and have some fun while I can

If I lived near actual terrain other than beach I probably wouldnt give a shit about going fast. I'm just trying to combine my love of cars and trucks with the hand I'm dealt

Should my first step be to ditch the mud tires?

I would say the M/T's should actually help you float on the sand due to their width. Do you have your sway bar still installed? Remove it if you haven't; you'll notice a difference. I'm just not responsible if you roll your truck haha

They seemed to try and look for solid ground under the sand today instead of floating, my sway bar was lost along time ago.

THIS. It should get you the results without going down a slippery, expensive, slope. Also, I had better luck in the sand (Glamis, sand dunes) with General Red Labels, than my BFG A/T. The "flat" tread pattern helps float, M/T's usually dig in too much for sand.

Good to know regarding the tires. I'll be hitting some dunes next Monday and was a little skeptical about my A/Ts

What's everyone's thoughts on a +2 kit on a daily driver? I know they cost about the same as a +3.5 kit but that probably won't happen as I still want the truck to be easily maneuverable on the daily commute. I am thinking +2 will be the best of both worlds. What do y'all think?

If 3” of overall width difference is a deal breaker for you, then sure, go with the +2. Otherwise, like you said, the price difference is minimal so you might as well go with the added performance gain of the +3.5. Wheel back spacing could keep you on the narrower side as well.

I was making this same decisions a few months ago. I ended up buying +2 since i didnt want glass front or rear and was also staying SOA with the archive relocation in the rear to tow a small pop up trailer. If youre gonna go the SUA and bed cage you might as well do 3.5

I just did a +2 on mine and the on road performance is similar to stock excluding when you hit large bumps. I would have done a 3.5 but i got a killer deal on the +2".
