Good point. That has no place here.

Anybody ever pin the thermostat on their transmission? Tempted to do it before my next towing trip to NY and see if it makes a difference in temps.

Does anyone make a lower temp thermostat for the Tacoma? That would at least allow it to warm up properly but then open the cooling loops at say 170 instead of 190 or whenever it finally does it.

As long as the pool water is below body temp it feels nice, since it's 10 - 20 deg below the air temp. Last week we had a string of days around 117 and the pool got to 98. That was like a hot tub. Still good, but more soothing than refreshing.

I think him being in the desert changes up the equation totally. I’m with you tho as far as temps around here.

If he thinks that's cool he should go for a dip in the ocean around here. 60* - 70* is about as warm as it gets in NE.

85 is my ideal water temperature. It's there from May into June, then again Sept into Oct. My wife likes it colder and she was in splashing around in March, but she has no problem with the warmer water. Having a pool you can use 8 or 9 months a year is awesome. Bonus - no shrinkage when doing naked cannonballz!

I wish we could use a pool for that long!

It would be great if we could use the pool for that long then get cold and snowy the other 1/4 of the year so we could enjoy the winter they way we should!

Pools are so expensive then insurance and new fence rules....not to mention upkeep hours or cost.

I’m happy to swim In my brothers but I’m sure not jealous of it.

I agree with you there. Although, my kids are at a good age where I really wish I had a pool and would happily put in the work to keep it up. We're looking to move soon, hopefully we can get one with the next house!

When I did real estate in NC a pool was a Non factor on price, I’m not sure if it’s the same up here. But if you could get someone to pay for it...that’s a lot more appealing!!

Plenty of snow within a 2 - 3 hour drive. I can see snow-capped peaks from the end of my street. Skiing, snowmobile trails, whatever other winter fun you need.

The house we wanted had a pool, but it wasn't on our must-have list. It just happened to be in the back yard of the place we liked the most. Being able to jump in anytime is great, though, and I'm glad it's there. Upkeep is maybe 2 hours a week and a full day every six months for the big stuff. The biggest cost is the electricity for the pump. A few chlorine pucks in the floater once a week in winter and three times a week in summer. No winterization required.

When I was looking, it was a negative for me. Any time I saw a house with a pool, I was thinking of how to get rid of it and wondering if I should try to work that into the deal.

Fortunately, not an issue in the house I got. Actually, it isn't realistic to put one up here. From what I can tell, the septic system takes up most of the level part of the back yard near the house and I don't think I'd want the weight of thousands of gallons of water on top of that. There's a lot more yard but it's next to the river at the bottom of a steep hill so that isn't practical either.

In my seven months in Arizona I've spent more time in the water than I did in 45 years of going to New England beaches and pools.
