my grandpa lived a mile off the coast in Edmonds WA and had a fleet of Chevy Luv trucks for his business. Only one truck is left and every surface is rusted through, even the hood and roof. And, like you say, everything left is covered in moss and mold. The smell of that truck will never leave my mind.

It's too bad it's so far gone or I'd drag it back to CO. Those trucks are part of what got me interested in mini trucks and the very similar toyotas... and are what made me want to own one too :)

That's awesome! Yea theres something about the smell of mold that will always linger in your memories.. I love those little chevys, the ford courier as well but I never got to see a 4x4 version of the ford. I love mini trucks so much when I first started tearing g cars apart and wanting to make custom stuff. I was gunna turn my 01 tdi jetta into a mini truck

If I had more money than sense I still would

@CS_AR have you ever rebuilt an OEM steering rack? Do they have an OEM seal kit available?

I thought I saw a thread in here somewhere of a guy tearing apart and rebuilding a rack... not for the faint of heart but if I can fuck up a W59 rebuild, I'm sure I can fuck up the rack rebuild as well :D

I believe it was a post or thread by Dirty Pool that had the step by step instructions for rebuilding it. That guy is a pleasure to read. Knows the stuff so well that he can explain it for laymen, like me:D
I'd definitely encourage you to rebuild it.... Because I wanna know how hard it is! Dirty pool can do all of the stuff no sweat, so he doesn't count:cool::D

I've seen a thread where a guy does it. I haven't attempted it yet. Tack rack is ok. Just replaced the rack on the 100 series with a new OEM. Didn't seem like too much cost difference getting a new rack considering the cost of inner tie rods, boots, and bushings.

I should probably install mine. They are just sitting in the garage like most of everybody's project parts here.

Whatever color you pick use rustoleum. That way you can just spray paint the damage after each trip. I'm mad there isnt a rustoleum that matches the factory Toyota white, not that it stops from using it, but still.

    lmao

I use rustoleum metallic blue for my touch ups

We were out wheeling one day and my buddy's girlfriend was asking why there were spots that were way more metallic than others in the sun...that's where the damage is :D
