I started with the 4th notch without any weight. I then added a sos Streamline bumper, full skid plate trio, and sliders. This brought me down about 3/4" of an inch. Then I switched to the bilstein 650lb coils and brought me right back up to even on the same 4th notch.

I have this exact setup. On the 3/4 settings, you'll sit almost perfectly level.

With any sort of weight in/on the bed though... the rear will be saggier than grandma's diaper.

I picked up the Low Range Offroad 1" / 1 degree taper rear block set. Would prefer to maintain the rake than to have the sags.

I went with the HD Dakar’s after having a 3 leaf AAL. The AAL was great Ride when bed was empty but quickly bottomed out on first camping trip. Weighted everything when I got home and figured between extra water, fuel, full ice chest, camper shell, cook box, high lift and recovery gear etc...I had about 800 lbs riding in the back. Surprising how quick it adds up. Ride is a bit rough with the HD’s when empty but if I wanted a smooth ride I would have bought an SUV. Add about 300 lbs in rear and ride improves.
The Dakar’s HD are way to go if you plan on using your truck as a truck. Here is mine with 1300 lbs of concrete mix in back plus weight of shell. Ride pretty smooth with that weight and did not bottom out despite a few potholes on way home.

I just ordered my Bilstein 6112/5160. I have a 2nd gen. What setting would you guys recommend putting them on. Looking for 2.5-3 inch lift. I was thinking putting it on the 5th or 4th setting but afraid the ride will be a little stiff. I also have a 1.5 inch block in the rear. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Need a favor from someone with new 6112 assembled but not installed Can you measure:
    1) what is spacing between the snap ring groves?
    2) what is compressed length of the spring (bottom of coil to top of coil)
    3) what groove is spring set at
    4) confirm if you have standard 600# springs or the 650# Springs

Hope to add some math to this discussion but need actual numbers to start with

    thanks

....... that's because your leaf springs are worn out. How would a shock prevent hitting bump stops? Shocks do not provide lift, nor do they increase load capacity. They dampen the suspension.

5160's are great shocks and a damn good buy for the money.

Yes, new leafs would help but my stock springs are far from worn out and it bottoms out with an empty bed. No shit, shocks don't add lift or increase load capacity, shocks control the motion and the weight of the vehicle by converting kinetic energy into heat. The shocks don't have enough compression dampening causing the shock to blow through it's travel and bottom out. They don't work well for me so going to move to something adjustable.

I am considering 6112/5160 in the next couple of months, with either the AAL or a leaf pack. I am under the impression that if you use a beefier coil spring, then the notches on the 6112's are not used to lift the truck, the coil does that work instead. Is that correct?

OME 88x paired with the 6112 would get me the standard 2.5" or more of lift in the front?
I keep seeing that you can't put the OME springs on the 6112, but those are old posts, and it adds confusion. Is that still the case?

I plan to add weight in the future, so heavier springs now would be "future proofing" my build, I realize the ride will be rough until the weight is added.

It seems like I'm on the right track but WTF do I know?

Im pretty sure you cant use OME springs with the 6112. Someone else will jump in here but the OMe springs are built different than the bilstein or eibachs and will not fit.

yeah, should have stated that. Looking for 2nd gen info. If anyone know difference between 2nd and 3 rd gen 6112, I’d be interested to know and add that to my spreadsheet

Plus I believe the diameter of the 6112 is too great to accommodate OME springs. They work well with 5100's, though.

I think that's why I was confused then. The 5100s will fit, and the 6112's will not it seems. Thanks Toucan for the clarification.

I see what you're saying. It's fine if you don't like them, I'm not trying to convince you to keep them, but the real reason you're hitting your bump stops is because the Toyota 3+1 leaf pack is a sorry excuse for a pack and has no real capacity. If I were you I'd throw a 3-Leaf AAL in the back before you change shocks. You'll be amazed at how much better it rides and it'll keep the rear off of the stops unless you're carrying weight.
