    The double shear is why I didn't like the other shock mounts. The portion of the mount around the bolt hole kept hitting the top of the shock on (less than) full articulation.

    And... lets be honest... fucking with trying to get the misalignment spacers in between there while fighting 200 pound charged shock, is dumb.

    The single shear mount hear is stronger than either of the (OEM) single shear mounts I just took off the truck.

    The bolt running perpendicular to the axle shouldn't be a problem. It's the way the Low Range Offroad cross member is designed. The body and shaft are independent of each other... the shaft will turn inside the body.

    Mounting them like this fixes another problem, with the resi hose. It makes it so the resi hose will not rub on anything around the area.

    In the cycle of suspension. The full droop will be at around 1/2 inch less than the travel of the shock. And the bump will fully compress just before the rubber bump on the shock shaft hits the body.

    Yea i've had a similar experience with that kinda stuff. I was just curious. I figure when the time comes, I'd be better off making my own as well. Plus an excuse to maybe get a plasma :welder:

    A whole 5lb spool? Damn that's a lot of wire. Although I can kinda see that with doing the frame boxing I guess. Some good length welds there to tie in those plates top and bottom.

    I used a stud style mount for my rear upper shock mounts on my Hilux, it worked great for my needs.

    The point of the misalignment spacers is to keep the top hat from hitting the mounts... put the top in then use a floor jack to put the bottom in. I can install my shocks in a couple minute. Not using the spacers will wear out the heims faster.

    It was also fully welding the reinforcement plates on the outside (and fully welding the inside of the holes in the plates) that is a LOT of welding.

    This application will still have misalignment spacers. I just don't have to try to fish them in between the tabs of the shock mount. The inside will have a shoulder to act as a misalignment spacer, the heim, then spacer, then nut.

    .035 Flux (gets hotter) I didn't have 220v available, so my best option for penetration was running the flux to max capacity.

    run what ya brung.

    I have the trail gear kit and the bolts are still straight. Double shear is overkill in my opinion.

    Added a little "coozie" for the wastegate. Figured this might prolong the life of the near by coupler, especially helpful on the trail.
