To follow suit, here's another gratuitous Speed Triple pic. Love this thing. Don't think I'll ever get rid of it!

The Fjr 1300 would be the ride to take for 1000 miles. I’m going on the Ex250.

I got 2 tickets on mine. So i sold it and got a FZ09. My insurance was $1400/year. Ouch. Had the FZ for 5 years, then a couple more bikes later, I got another S3.

And after i sold that, i saw this badass one in NYC:

That green is absolutely my favorite color on that bike. The round headlights on the older speeds and streets are what I fell in love with.

The 5 IBA certs I have so far have all been on the FJR1300. There are plenty of riders though doing big miles on the 250 Ninjas. If you visit the IBA website and look through the reports of the older Iron Butt Rallies you'll find a few names doing the big event on the Ninjette. Kurt Worden comes to mind having finished the IBR I believe 3 times now on one of them. During one of the Mason Dixon 20/20 rallies I rode in the only rider to get a performance award was a rider on a 250 Ninja. I've even considered adding one of them to my stable for a winter bike to save wear and tear on the FJR. If you've never done an Iron Butt level ride before feel free to reach out for any advice, tips, etc. If you want me to preview your route I've done that for a few folks as well.

Can’t wait for this guy to do it on a grom! Good read about his IBA Bun Burner 1500 https://advrider.com/f/threads/epic-day-and-a-half-trip-iba-bun-burner-1500-on-a-honda-grom.1406676/

People seriously underestimate the abilities of those little 250s. I know Kurt Worden's ninjette is showing over 110k miles at this point and a few others I know are closing in on 100k.

I might have to get the “wife” one once she learns how to ride on the grom. Shoot she is going to have more motorcycles than me if I keep buying them for her

I don't think a Grom has sufficient HP to be eligible for the IBR. If permitted it would definitely fall into the hopeless class! I'd still have to root for them though. I know I wouldn't want to try to put down that many miles on one.

I've seen the quad lock advertised and seen a few of their mounts on some LD riders bikes but none of the riders I know personally. I use the slip grip mount myself and have been real happy with that. They're made to fit specific phones to the point where you even need to tell them what case you're using to insure fitment. Had one now for almost 3 years I think? Been in 32 states using it and probably 30k + miles in all sorts of weather.

A friend uses one. He seems to like it. The only issue is you have to buy their case too which ups the price. There’s other mounts that are cheaper and work just as good
