That’s another good one but they discontinued the model 3, so now it’s only the model 32 which is $100 more, plus the shipping ended up being more for me. Overall I saved like $220ish going with the jmr

Yeah, the question is: how much do you think you need to bend 2"x.25" DOM. If you ever plan to you want the JD2. If 2x.12 is all you need there are a whole host of very good benders out there.

True, but I'd be surprised if anyone would be bending that for these trucks. That's more for making links from what I read.

Yeah, that's lower links and tube-chassis crawler main frame level material.

But for an extra $100, why not?

Because it's an extra $200+ when you take into account the cost of the die and shipping increase. I've been very happy with mine. I got some flack for not buying a JD2 in the welding thread but I just tuned them out and am very happy with my purchase. It fits my needs really well.

Shipping and die cost definitely makes or breaks the deal. I got mine on a free-shipping sale, and dies on various other sales.

    Never pay full retail.

Very nice! Yeah I’m certainly not the first to chop off that lower crossmember. It just seems to be more popular in the prerunner crowd

Probably one of the first to do it with a winch bumper tho. This would also work for 3rd gens. They just need to find somewhere else to attach the steering cooler that 2nd gens don’t have

Great write up Randy! Did the sawzall work pretty well on the crossmember? I am prepping to do something similar in a few weeks for a prerunner bumper

how did you make those plates? If you can easily make another set this is something I would be interested in possibly purchasing and being able to weld onto my frame. That mount is kind of the last weak link in my truck fronts end at the moment.

Yep! Sawzall worked awesome. Just make sure you use quality blades. I use Milwaukee blades.

it’s a well known tool that all back yard fabricators have used over the years, CAD. Trace onto and old cardboard box and cut out with the plasma cutter. I could probably draw it up and get you a def file next time my bumper is off, but that could be a few years, looks like last time was 2014.
