Bite the bullet and buy new Springs Adding a add a leaf is just a waste of money.

I know people driving on broken springs with all manner of junk being used to keep the leafs some what in place

Forecast over my way calling out some nasty weather for this afternoon. Been riding motorcycle to work most days but severe thunderstorms take some of the fun out of that so the taco it is. Grabbed the spare bottle for my gas grill so I can stop on way home to get that filled.

It's in my nature. I don't have the experience to know it'll be ok, so I think if the worse case scenario and assume that will happen. For instance, all I can think is a leaf will break on the driver's side and take out the gas tank or something stupid.

I'm planning on a new leaf pack, but these have maybe 30-35k on them. I don't want to waste the money on a pack that won't suit my needs. Lesson learned, I'm going to hit the local truck stop today or tomorrow and get a weight check.

That happened to mine out in WY. A leaf on driver's side snapped and was jammed up against the gas tank. The good thing is I had some rebar/mechanics wire to at least hold in place until I got back to civilization.

That leaf pack has definitely seen better days, but it's perfectly safe and serviceable. Definitely don't miss takeover worrying about it.

For this weekend: dump some of the camping shit out of your truck to lighten it up on the trails, no one will screw with your gear in camp, and you can leave it with mine if you'd like.

I can hook you up with a set of the HD packs @blackout14 was selling, if he's still out of the game, I haven't heard from him around here in a while.

I'm running a F150 Raptor HD pack from Deaver, which is both more weight capacity than the Blackout pack and pulls 14" of travel. BUT, it requires custom front hangers, custom shackle hangers on the back, and cutting a hole in the bed for the shock.

You aren't helping my decision to just send it. Dually noted though, perhaps a wrecker bar and tie wire will have to be part of the packing list for this trip.

Definitely get it weighted, and make sure to get front/rear axle weights too. Then we can figure out the right pack.

If you'd like I'll bring you an exta OEM leaf pack from the shop so you can have a trail spare in camp...

Im meeting a friend. He has never wheeled or heard of tw. I kind of feel like I'm hooking a friend up with a good time, but crazy ex girlfriend. Anyway, he has a pretty new turd gen and isn't planning on wheeling. I figured I'd leave my stuff with his vehicle.

Im not going to rush this time around. If I'm re doing the rear, then I'm redoing the rear. Minimum I want to do the u-bolt flip and new bumps. I want to check out a shackle flip as well. If I had a set of 12" that might be considered as well. I've been out of work though, so I may just have to be responsible and get what I need for now. Have a plan and acquire the rest over the winter.

I definitely will get weights, that the only way to prevent this in my mind.

I don't know how to change it, but with a 4 hr trip home and the likelihood of finding something else on a weekend minimal I would certainly appreciate it. Trail spare is a lot more price of mind than im bringing to the table.

@johneman linking up shortly with @MidnightRebel07 for your headlights.

Good soggy Morning folks :hattip:. Rained a hell of a lot last night.

I do appreciate it Mike. I'll be in touch to make arrangements to pick them up as I am not going to be there for the Take Over. I would love to, but too many irons in the fire now. See you this weekend.

I seen this and it pisses me off 2 fold.1st the PA Tp used covid to fire 500 employees ( till takes) because of use of tag readers. To cut cost.
    2. To me the rate hike is extortion. either conform to us or we will make it too costly to use our road.

As it stands now , I need to take a drive with the missus to get out of the house. We were going to head upstate which is closer to Rausch but my BIL has this weekend (long story but he is an asshole so I don't want to be around him.) If for some reason I can't make it up to meet up with you I'll let you know. Thanks so much.

I had heard on the news the PA Tpke was many millions in the hole budget wise (even with funding from the USDOT because it's an interstate) and thats why they were raising the tolls. But now firing the toll takers especially when there is the issues we have now is not the right thing to do. I try to stay off the Tpke as much as possible because of the cost as compared to other toll roads in other states (even NJ has cheaper tolls). Seems they have been raising tolls like gas tax on a yearly basis and we still have pot holed roads :annoyed:. Sounds like mismanagement to me. Rant over....

Ubolt flip and bumps are a big step, and best done with a new leaf pack, since the U bolts are a single use item. I'm not a huge fan of the shackle flip, but depending on what kind of wheeling you want to set up for it definitely has a place.

You can check out the prototype bolt-on 12" shock setup I've built at Takeover, Tony is testing it. The shocks can definitely be done later and separate from the rest.
