What are your thoughts about this new show happening on the 21st of this month. Tanner Foust, Adam Ferrara, and Rutlege Wood are the "Stars" of the show, and rumor is, they wilkl also have an un nammed "Stig", and celebrity guest drivers. Personally.......I dont think Tanner Foust has much of a personality. Surely not one made for TV. I dont know enough about the others to make a call yet. And not sure who the new "Stig" would be either. Nor do I want to speculate. A few things are kinda making me wonder how the show will turn out....First. The "Original" Top Gear has a HUGE budget for their shows. Surely more than the US version will have. Second.......What kinda cars are they gonna test? Europe has less restrictions on vehicles, and they are all pretty closely speced....Itally, Germany, France.....all have the same safety and "smog" requirements for cars. The USA has much more strick standards.....and quite honestly....Most of the "Super cars" are found over seas, and not allowed for import into the USA. Anyway.....I think if I can get thru an episode of it, and not punch my TV when Tanner talks, things may be OK.

    Thoughts?

I really dont think the USA version will touch the original. Im a big fan of the original. I personally think that even if they had the budget and what not of the original it would still not even be close the the original. The hosts of the british version make the show, and the cars are the bonus. Their personalities are priceless. I will give it a shot with an open mind but im not holding my breath.

I am a huge fan of the U.K. version. I dont think the U.S. one can match the hosts, cars and comedy of the U.K. version.

I really hope so Lrgrnr. I agree Grimm. sometimes thats the best part. They dont always have the sickest cars around. Sometime they have sh*t boxes and just mess around with them. And those dudes are funny!

I'll check it out but my hopes aren't high. I saw one preview where they were racing a Cadillac around a dirt course and jumping it; it was extrememly lame. I think Jay Leno would have been a good co-host cuz he's a car-nut. Not sure about these 3 guys.

i'll give it a shot, but i highly doubt it's going to come even close to the absolute excellence of the british version. like others have said: it's the personalities that make the show, not the cars.

    Meh...I'm not expecting too much.

On another note, wtf is with the History channel? They need to change their name. It's very misleading.

Me too and I agree. I feel the US version is going to be a weak knock-off

I love the Original one from the U.K. and im really growing on the Australian one. I guess we'll see if the American one will be a total flop or success :D

Atleast it will be on the history channel. Stupid comcast, when we had DirecTV we didnt have to subscribe to BBCA, it was part of the standard package

Don't have much hope in the new US version, might line up more with 5th gear, a second best IMO. I'd have to do a little more searching on the US host's though, can't say I know exactly who they are.

It won't be as good as the UK version. I will still probably watch it though. :D

I will watch it probably even if it's not that good. There are so many times I find myself wanting to watch car related shows and can't find anything. I'll even catch myself watching Truck U and that show is just sad. Speed Vision has gotten to the point where there's hardly anything on worth watching.

I will have to agree across the board. The original is awesome but its made awesome by the dynamic. Chris is right though on the budget, another thing that makes the UK version so wonderful is their outlandish stunts. I think I read it was the biggest budget in the entire BBC.

I was watching an episode the other day where they built a rocket to make a car fly. Come on, that is some nutty but fun stuff.

I will watch the US version with very low expectations.

The US version will be eXXtreme!!!!!!! And by extreme I mean it will suck. Tanner is an idiot, Rutledge is a rah-tard hick, (I mean, he dumbs down the NASCAR prerace shows) and I don't know the other guy. But if Paul Tracy is the US Stig, that might be ok, he can drive the wheels off damn near anything.

    X2!

That show is what it is today because of their personalities, and the American show can only go so far if they don't have good personalities in it.

I'll give it a shot too, and see what it is like. I watch the History Channel a lot and they usually come out with a lot of good shows.

We'll see soon enough what it's like.
