    Hello!

I recently got a black knob to replace the chrome on the 4x4 knob and lost the springs that go into the 4x4 mechanism. Does anyone know the size of these springs and where I can find a replacement?

Thanks for the help, taco noob here who did this install late at night and outside like a dummy.

There are two identical springs and plastic pieces. You can use the other on side (shown in your pic) to measure.

Oops! Re-reading, it seems like you lost both?

Yes yes lost them both :( I reached out to the manufacturer of the knob and they are sending me the plastic pieces so I'm good with those, just need to locate some springs.

Good call, it definitely does look that size. My question now is the length of the springs.

Hahah thanks, and to be honest it was simple to do for the most part (as long as you don't lose the damn pins and springs that is). Luckily the switch still works and engages 4h and 4l without the pins and springs, it's just loose as hell and definitely not okay.

I did mine by sanding, priming, and painting since I like the smooth appearance of the stock ring. While I was in there the second time to be sure that I didn't lose the springs or plastic bits, I trimmed the two tabs off so that I don't need to push it in for 4Lo / 2Lo. This is handy since I am using the 2LM a lot.

From that pic and what I saw, the plastic pieces are just proud of the boss that they are in. If you get a pen spring or similar and it is too short, you can lengthen it easily by stretching. If the springs that you find are a bit too long, I really do not believe it will be a problem.

    You're welcome!

    Good luck.

It's one of those :frusty: :frusty: :frusty: because I would have really preferred a manual T case. :D

Update: I fixed knob last Saturday, luckily the springs were still intact so just had to add the two plastic pieces and was good to go! No more duct tape holding the knob in position! Praise Ka!

The same thing just happened to me last night. I only lost one side though. Where did you end up finding a replacement spring and plastic piece?

Hello! The springs were still intact so didn't have to replace them. I reached out to the vendor (ajt designs) I bought the chrome delete kit from and they sent me a replacement plastic piece.

    Best of luck!
