I'd say 95% of my holdings are what I plan to have long term for retirement etc. I very rarely touch any of that, with the exception of super obvious opportunities like when everything tanked immediately after COVID in March, but you knew some companies would be back up in a week.

I keep a little bit of liquidity to mess around with short term stuff, but basically treat it the same as taking a thousand bucks to the casino- plan to lose all of it, and if I win some, great.

EUR/AUD/JPY/NZD have all had nice runs and are looking a little exhausted.

I use UUP for the run.

Yep. But the slopes on both sides of camp are snow loaded and avalanche danger is extreme.

 

And half of base camp has come down with a fever..

 

There is a temptation in it though. Feels like it has its own market completely separate from everything else.

Tesla’s valuation and stock prices are total insanity. Had I bought into the insanity a year ago I could easily retire right now. Had I bought only a month ago I still could. Anyone have a good method for predicting insane escalation of stock prices vs. the huge drops when reality sets in aka Yahoo?

 

Just waiting for the Senate to unveil the new stimulus. Hoping that gives the market a quick boost. In the meantime I'm hemmoraging money. lol

Same here, probably could have turned what I have into 7 figures.

I am afraid of losing it all, so I can’t go near stocks like that.

 

Totally understand. 2018 I had 100% of my 401k in T Rowe Price blue chip stocks, was doing far better than the market Until the market tanked In early 2019. When it recovered I put 75% in Intermediate bonds and left 25% in TRP blue chips and that has given me much less volatility with a very good increase in both Over time. Retirement early next year!

The problem with trying to play something like TSLA is when do you get out? Say you got in at $300, and it got up to $600, I'd probably sell it all. Or if it goes up past that, and you hold strong, then it starts dropping, do you sell? Because that happened, and it probably shook a lot of weak hands out. Then started going right back up. I don't have the nerves for that, because it can't keep that track forever!

I’m not that savvy on bonds either, I think the term intermediate is typically 2 a 10year bonds. My 401k bond fund I selected has is a mixture of good quality Bonds and has been stable for many years with slight increases, the past year has done really well, I suspect because of the stock market scares.
