It's pretty outdated, I would get something newer even if lower spec parts.

I read a review on the new deore 12spd and it sounds like a nice group for a bike that doesn't cost Texa$. Apparently all the pros of the XT/xtr 12spd and the cons are weight and the 3 gear at once upshift is not on those shifters. Not sure if the slx 12spd has that.

Found a 2019 Trance 2 29’er. Looks perfect except for a small paint chip.

$1,900. Have an offer on my Fathom for $950 - think I’m going to pull the trigger

What specific bike did you try where you preferred large? What was the specific geometry?

I have found that my bike size preferences vary greatly based on the actual geometry of the bike. For example, at 5'10", the Ibis is the only size Large I own, while my three hardtail bikes are all size Medium. I test rode a Giant Trance Advance Pro 29, and that too felt best in a size Medium. I also recently rode a size Large Transition Spur around a parking lot and it was a bit too big for me with its newer geometry. I would prefer a size Medium in the Spur, as well.

I guess the size large Ibis could work for you if you have a very unique body type, but I wouldn't count on it just because some other size Large bike felt ok.

Have you ever ridden an Ibis Mojo 3 or something with very similar geometry?

I have not to be honest. To your point, after researching, I found it may be a squeeze from what I read.

difficulty of today is, most shops are sold out and I can’t find much to test ride (at least in my budget).

my LBS has some nice $5k+ bikes but that’s not happening haha

Let me know if you run into any bikes you recommend that you see for sale!

Nope, had found it on pink bike. Used 2019 for $1900

    There’s a new 2020 I can get in Charleston but that’s $3200 after tax

Oh gotcha. Sadly that’s kinda how it goes in the used market. I try to honor any agreements I make with folks, but cash is king.

Giant makes solid bikes and are often some of the best bang for the buck options. This typically translates to better pricing on their stuff on the used market too. Right now is an anomaly. Used bike prices are crazy inflated and new stuff in the lower-mid price point is scarce.

I'll try keep an eye out for you. You said size large, full squish 29er, $2k-2.5K budget right?

Yessir, that would be the goal! Could make an XL work too depending on bike, I am right inbetween.

Agreed, given my budget for road bikes and mountain bikes, Giant is usually my brand

Also, FYI for those with more play money than me, there is a 2019 Transition Scout, size Large, in Kennesaw for $3,100

Messaged him. Fox 36 is from 2016.

Wheels are 2018. Shock is 2019. Everything else is late 2019 or 2020.

I’m not familiar with banshee other than to say I know the brand name. Price seems high to me but given everything is high right now who knows.

At 15min away I’d say go look at it in person. $2400 isn’t chump change. Being able to see a used bike in hand prior to purchase is a great. Who knows, people often accept better offers when there’s cash in hand.

That was my thought too. Not familiar with Banshee at all besides reading online. Mainly just have some discomfort on dropping that much cash on something I am not familiar with.
