Yah it wouldn’t be too bad if you had it new and empty. Going to wrap it up as is and order some sealant. It’s sold out on that link so need to track some down.
No issues with the bottom at all. If the mounts were a hair shorter it would lay flat all around. I managed to get the top on. I had to re align it 6-7 times but came out not too bad minus the side gaps.

P.S. this thing take a gang of coolant. Having that engine and radiator to fill plus the S/C system and extra capacity if that CSF.

Mine is supposed to arrive Friday. I figured between supercharger and towing in Bako heat, this would be good as part of my 120k service.

Just like my CSF Subaru radiator, this thing is beefy. Bent a few of the fins on the bottom while putting the fan back in unfortunately, but won't affect things or leak. I wish there was a foam gasket for the plastic OEM shroud to make a better seal, but I don't see any big issues.

If I am not mistaken, this CSF/Tacoma radiator is > $400.00

    go to --> www.densoautoparts.com

    Denso 221-3139 radiator - 4.0L - $101.70 + ship via sparkplugs.com

I see one thread here claiming someone had a problem and another following that thread saying all was well.

So why would someone pay $400+ when they can get a Denso radiator for a little over $100.00?

For a lot of us the stock unit didn't cut it. You won't understand unless you actually have a way of monitoring your coolant temperatures and wheel, have a boosted 4.0, or live in a climate where 100f is the normal.

Guess I'm one of the lucky ones - 2WD - highway driving mostly - not boosted - but I do live in a hot summer climate.

I used to see 205f-220f engine coolant temperatures regularly wheeling my boosted 4.0 even with cool ambiant temperatures. Now I rarely see above 200f ever, even when wheeling in 100f. $300 is nothing to protect the head gasket.

Do you have a Scangauge or OBD tool to check coolant temperatures? You might be surprised what you'll hit at a stop light in 100f weather with the AC on. The extra size and capacity of this radiator is a God send IMHO.

I saw 185F-187F idling in the driveway awhile back after some hwy driving - ODB scanner. I'll give it another go with the scanner when I get a chance.

Bottom line...I'm not too concerned. For the type of driving I do, the stock radiator is getting it done.

Basically the same temps I see normal driving, offroad I hit the low 200s. One day I'll upgrade, one day..

Temperatures are usually highest during stop and go driving because that's when the radiator sees the lowest airflow. That being said you're right, for most people the stock does the job, but for those who want cooler temperatures when it's getting hot this helps a lot.

Sounds like the CSF is the way to go for more stressful situations.

    Mods? Yes, oh yes..
Remember, temp's aren't the only risk with stock radiators. They are plastic and over time, materials become brittle. Loose mounts, brittle plastic, off road... I think you can see the picture. CSF are all aluminum and stout. No worries getting a cracked rad unless you wreck hard but you have bigger problems at that point.
