Okay... that makes sense. I removed the wrong grommet myself too when doing my install. But the one I removed is not shown in the picture, it was more toward the center of the truck. But luckily I realized my error before I actually tried to pull the cable through.

Confirmed the fitment of the tailgate lock on a 2016 access cab manual today, so it should be compatible with every model.

Got mine installed this past weekend and so far I'm liking it. Was relatively easy and straightforward. But while removing the trim pieces on the passenger side for running the wires, I came across a most interesting, if not, peculiar find:

    A 40 cal Smith & Wesson bullet.

Strange thing is, I don't keep a gun in the truck. I can only assume, somehow, the previous owner got it under the trim. Again, not sure how.

Small video of the after install and my peculiar find:

I installed this kit yesterday on a 2019 Access Cab. I did wait until I had the wire from the back to the passenger side plugin before I did the zip ties. Easy install... awesome addition.

I would be interested if you found the part number for the dual cab long bed. I have a 2017 TRD Sport that I am interested in adding this to. Thanks!

Installed on my 2016 4x4 sport. It says to go through the passenger grommet but mines had wire coming out of it so i slit the grommet in half and ran it through the existing one. The instuctions led me to believe that there was nothing going through that grommet. But alas everything works like a charm if anyone was wondering about fitment. Heres a pic from under the truck of the grommet

There should be an unused grommet on the other side of that plastic cover.

This is the proper location as specified in the installation instructions. Several people have had trouble finding it (including me). I pushed in the grommet near the center of the passenger side rear floor before realizing I was in the wrong place. I figured out my error before running the cable through there. But getting that floorpan grommet back in place was not an easy task.

This is where the cable and grommet should go. The existing grommet that's factory installed in that location is mostly obscured from view by the frame. It's located at the rear end of that plastic cover that is easy to find, but the grommet is tucked in between the frame and the truck floor.

This post has another picture to help locate the proper grommet location.

You expect electrical tape to stay put and keep water out?

At the least, I'd try to find some kind of waterproof sealant that I could mold around it. Rusty floorboards would be a mofo

Id use black RTV. You may be able to apply it from the inside until it squeezes through the cut, then smooth it out a little.
