I went from 2018 with all the gizmos to a 2003 with power windows. I don't miss my 2018 for one second and now that I (knocks on wood) found most the gremlins and got all the big stuff replaced its even more enjoyable.

I think 1st and 2nd were best gens. The new tech is great, but it can be too much sometimes and I enjoy the lack of distractions since I have a hard enough time with that already.

There are just so many beeps and boops and settings to adjust right... sometimes having no options is easier for me :anonymous:

I completely understand. When all the guys were talking about the Fords and getting all the options they wanted I was thinking, all I like is power windows, power locks and cruise control (although the Tacoma's CC kinda stinks).

Yeah I have less options on my JL than I had on my tacoma and like it. I have no backup beeps, side mirror flashing, lane departure beeps and i'm enjoying it. Also having a shifter for 4 wheel drive I like more than the dial.

On an unrelated note, it will be nice watching regular season baseball tonight, even if the sox aren't going to be too great this year. And only a little over a week for the bruins to start back up

I wanted the adaptive cruise. In a sedan I’d have to have it. I drive my truck so slowly though that everyone blows by me and I don’t have anyone to “lock on” to for cruise. It was really nice on the road trip and it’s been useful from time to time but not enough that I’d have that as a need for my next truck. Sedan, yes. Truck, nah. Besides once the person in front moves or exits or you get an open highway (or for speed setting if it is just set higher than current speed) the truck goes balls to the wall to get up to speed like no, calm it down.

I’ll be honest I do like the remote start. I use it almost exclusively to be able to leave my dog in the vehicle with either heat or ac as needed. Also a crucial for the road trip but that was aftermarket and almost every vehicle can get those now.

power windows and locks, cruise, and I’m good from the factory. I can do an aftermarket head unit for Bluetooth and/or android/Apple support, and remote start. Next truck will be quite bare bones I think. Or a raptor. Haven’t decided :D

I like the mirror signals but meh. I’d be fine without.

sports just feels off. It doesn’t have the same connection as opening day, games, etc.

happy birthday @m603holden just know I’ll be celebrating your birthday with tequila and that’s the only reason I’m drinking twqqequilla tonight. :anonymous:

I'm with you there. Only option I really wanted out of the XLT over the STX package was the keypad entry. The rest of the options on my last few trucks have been pretty basic, cruise, power windows & locks, basic SYNC so I can make calls through the truck and that's it. I do miss the power rear slider from the F150 though...

    And, Happy Birthday @m603holden :rockband:

Haappy birthday Max! You can't drink all day unless you start in the morning!

The power rear window is a must for me. I like it for trailering the boat so I can hear if anything is weird. I like heated seats and power windows and remote start is another must. The GMC is great in that respect, I can start it with my cell phone so when I'm out on the snowmobile I will fire it up when I'm like 5 miles from the truck. Only if it's crazy cold out. Cruise control, yes, heated mirrors definite. Trailer package with integrated brake controller a must.

I'm still looking for something and the finance deals are good but the inventory is low. Just this week the GMC started a big rattle in the back, it must be an exhaust heat shield or something. This truck is not standing the test of time.

Do you use it a lot? For how long Ford has had them on their vehicles, I cannot remember ever seeing someone use it. And I kind of thought that if it was a popular feature, other manufacturers would adopt their own version, but I've never seen them on other brands.

When I used to mountain bike a lot my buddy used his all the time. Keys stayed in the truck, under the seat. No having to carry keys with you. Awesome feature!

I completely forgot about the 'trailering add-ons' and honestly don't even consider them 'features' but they seem to be neutering trucks more and more these days. I do have the integrated brake controller (although I'm not really a fan of the trailer sway control, it seems to fight with the weight distribution's sway control so I turn it off in the settings) and I like the factory tow mirrors, no clip ons.
I do use it a lot. When playing soccer, just like @jethro, I hide the keys in the cab and use the keypad. If I'm just out in the yard, or at a campsite and don't have my keys on me, I like being able to get into the truck also. It also allows you to keep the truck running with the doors locked. You can lock the truck from the outside keypad, doors are locked, truck stays running if you just need to jump out quick but want to keep it running because it's really cold, really hot or the dog's in the truck.

Makes sense and I feel like I'd use it similarly. I don't carry any keys, just the fob so I used to throw it in the bed cubby on the tacoma since I have the tonneau cover and it was 'secure'. Now I have to carry the fob with me and the JL fob is massive. When I go on trail runs I typically have a hydration pack on so I toss it in there and it's not an issue, but I'd rather just leave it in the vehicle and use a number pad.
