Never been to Lytle Creek so definitely considering this.

Anyone from OC and want to roll out together from the 55?

I do not, never done Lytle Creek before. But I'll look over some maps and such before then and we can come up with a plan. If anyone else going has done the trails in the area maybe they help us plan it out

Thanks, I appreciate it. I'll look into it some more this weekend too... probably on sunday when work's slow :D
Might be pushing it since some work and others are coming from south oc, 2 hourish drive.
I wonder how popular Lytle Creek is. If we did Cleghorn it would be swamped by that time for sure
Until 3am... noooooo thank you sir

From what I've seen of some of the Lytle Creek trails, parts of it look pretty narrow around the mountain ledges...if this ends up being a really big group we will probably need to break up the start times into smaller groups.

Cleghorn is so wide open big groups are OK but I wouldn't want to have a massive 10+ caravan on small winding trails just for everyone's safety and out of respect for others on the trail

Saw this from Lytle Creek on a FB recovery page recently, FJ went over the side of the trail almost down a mountain hopefully that video link works

Never been but from what I can tell there are several trails out that way, some easier than others. Nothing very technical but just the narrow aspect of some of them makes me want to keep the groups small. It sucks when you're out on a trail like that and a huge group that takes up the entire trail comes through and you can't get around or past them.

We have had extremely different experiences. I bring a hammock now to nap while 20 people air up and down.

Very true lol. I especially notice this when trying to do harder trails like MJT, Gold Mountain, Lookout, etc.

I don't wanna be the ringleader on this one @Nicklovin that's all you :p Or if anyone that's going has any experience with the Lytle Creek area and wants to head it up

From the map that was posted a few pages back, I'm particularly interested in Coldwater Canyon being a 4wd only trail but I won't get my hopes up, in my experience the forest service will mark fire roads like that sometimes so who knows lol.

    CEE6E28F-BFF5-487B-BBB0-EAB89CF37D70.jpg

Really just want to get out and see something local I haven't done before, I'm not far from Lytle Creek and have never been there. Plus I've only done a handful of trails over the past year since my daughter was born, be nice just to get out again.

Also want to check it out for potential camping in the future

I'm probably not going to be able to come unless something changes, but I'd probably suggest starting with Sheep Creek trail(3n31) which will kinda give you a counterclockwise loop back down to the firing range. And then you can check out 3n06b and 3n06a towards the tail end. 3n06a was definitely 4wd last time i went a few months ago, with one spot in particular that was a little tricky
