Perception is reality. You don't want to be so efficient as to make yourself obsolete.

It's why you estimate about 20-50% longer to repair something. Gives you a little extra time if needed, and if and when you finish early, you'll look like a super hero.

 

That's what I always tell customer. I could very well fix something that day, but I say our required "2-3 week" time frame...plus, as you said, if I was as efficient as a can be, they'll find other things for me to take on...without extra pay

Understandable. I totally get it.
But I hope you and others see me for just me, no more or less, certainly no better than or special than the rest. Never felt that way, hope none thot of in that way.

 

I’ve lived in Corpus and Houston. They definitely smell 100 times worse. But NM is a oil/gas rich state too. It used to smell like money to me too until I retired. Now it just stinks.

 

For what it's worth, I never had the impression that you were one of the "title" holders with an attitude problem. Exact opposite, actually. So while it's a shame you no longer have the title, we are glad you're still here.
