I’m not sure if the 2020 is comparable with the 2016+. Haven’t seen the inside of it yet. I’m doing test installs this week to finalize comparability with 2020 Tundra and 2016+ Tacoma's.

They also changed sometime in the spring back to the 16-19 location.

Do you have an antenna that works with the 16-19 location? Getting my Tacoma delivered this Saturday, recently manufactured out of San Antonio so it should be the old location as you specified.

Doesn’t look like it works with the 2020 Tundras.

@Anderson - I have a 2017 Tacoma and just got an old FlipPac. It’s awesome, but rubs on the fin.

I don’t use the maps or sat radio, and I’m curious of the 2nd Gen Bullet would work to simply cover the spot my fin, knowing it wouldn’t provide functionality for my sat radio and maps?

Also, like everyone else, I’m interested to know when you think the latest 3rd gen might be ready for prime time.

Add me to the list of people who are grateful you have taken on this task.

2 gen cover will not work for 3rd gen. Not physically possible.

It doesn’t appear to work on 2020 Tacoma models either. I would need one to verify, but the part number indicates it’s a different internal component than the 16-19.

I'm in Reno with a 2020...might just have to cut one down and lose functionality when the time comes if it’s a redesign.

Might just buy the cap https://trdshop.carlocktoyotaoftupelo.com/oem-parts/toyota-cover-8607704020 and start hacking for $45 or buy the complete setup to see how the wiring works and check clearance or if there is a way to reseat the electrical inside the cover before I start tearing apart the inside of a brand new truck. What a way to start though!

I don’t believe cutting this one up is a good idea...

If I am correct, your antenna looks like this on the inside...

Hmm?? For the 3rd gen prototype how much height have you been able to save? I believe the factory shark fin is about 3inchs give or take a bit. What is your replacement fins height measuring at?

Could be. No time to tear into it right now but did get some quick measurements outside. Wouldn’t be too terribly sad to lose the satellite radio once the trial is up. Or worst case run a cable elsewhere for signal.

Not giving up yet though. Would still like something aesthetically pleasing and functional.

Edit: btw does the cover just pop off or is there more to it? Wiggled it a bit and it felt like a simple tab attachment but didn’t want to get too grabby on a work night.

You’ll notice a taper in the “teardrop” waist. It’s deceptively wide. That deception is due to the concave shape in the trough of the fin. I’m on dad duty at the moment, can’t run out to the garage to take the measurements.

    Stock for now.. maybe
I've heard the 2nd generation access cab installs are a bit more tricky. Install video would be awesome on that if possible.
    Nice work either way
