I recently have been doing a lot of offroading and I want to get a lift to be able to fit bigger tires and do harder trails. I cant decide whether I should keep my stock suspension that I have had for over 200,000 miles and get spacers, or buy a new kit and get something that comes with a 3 inch lift. Getting new suspension would cost more and I'm not sure I want to put a couple grand into my 2006 since it is getting old. just looking for some insight on what to do. Thanks in advance!

Since you offroad, a new suspension would be much more ideal for you than spacers in your current suspension. I’d say Bilstein 5100’s would suffice, or their 6112 front/5160 rear combo if you wanted the next level. Also look into a new leaf pack in the rear as your 200,000 pack is likely tired. You probably don’t need the full 3” but anything above 2.5” you’ll require aftermarket UCA’s to achieve better alignment specs. Tires make a big difference for traction and overall height. Of course, clearance becomes an issue to where you may need a CMC(cab mount chop), trimming of the bottom fender flares, etc. It sounds intimidating, but it’s the proper way.

Do you know how much bilstein 5100s would be? for front and rear.
I'm also looking into the kit below. Would that be a good kit?

Thanks for the reply, I would have to buy springs and a new leaf pack with this right? or at least and add a leaf.

Yup you’ll need springs which is an option on their site. I would skip the add a leaf and get a whole new leaf pack to replace your very high mileage ones

Im new here, but imo, if you dont plan on getting a new truck anytime soon, I say a new suspension would be the route to go. You’ve put enough miles on your current truck so change it and enjoy the ride.

Not trying to make you spend money btw man lol. I likely spent more money on my truck and it’s got a little over a quarter of the mileage than yours. You’re smarter than I am

Go to headstrong offroad also for their kits, call, talk to Marie, wheelers will say its in stock take your money, and then make you wait for back ordered stuff. Just as a side note, if your truck is old wheeling will most likely break more stuff, just be aware, the suspension upgrade is worth it on a truck with 200k on stock components.
