    A head gasket is a pricey non-issue.

I’m at 50k on my originals now. I’ll be replacing them when I put new tires on at 55k or 60k.

the drums don’t last longer because they are drums, it’s just rear brakes in general last longer.

i know that, based on the rear end not having as much weight as the front...

Quick question for the people that just replaced the front brake pads, do you have to resurface the rotors? My 17 Taco is at 93K miles and the front pads need to be replace very soon. Thanks in advance!

there are arguments for and against resurfacing rotors. Personally, I never do.

Im about to do mine at 55k miles, and im just going to give this set a try. Ive bought a ton of powerstop products for my various vehicles (bought the z32 kits a couple of times for my Camaro SS and my dad's C5 corvettes) and have never had anything negative to say. Their customer service was lacking when I tried to find a set for my wife's 15 Jaguar XF sport, but that was the only issue and it was minor.

It's like you are jogging behind your girl with your hands are on her back . If she starts slowing down you will too . This is how drums work less . :bored: .

I've been doing brakes for years. For the labor and cost you are better just replacing your rotors. You can get by turning rotors but they will probably warp if they see any type of hard use.
A good set of pads and a quality rotor aren't expensive for these trucks. Clean and lube everything properly (I have a small solvent tank but brake cleaner works too).
This is definitely a component that you should not cut corners on.

I'm at 93,000 miles and 10 years on my original front pads. I can probably go another 20,000 miles if I only use my brakes at every other traffic light.

you can turn the rotors once usually, but for the time & effort just buy new rotors.

I've notice on everyone of my toyota pickups that the weights spot welded on the drums rust, and fall off after a few years...never noticed any ill effects afterwards, but i'm still assuming the tacoma is still phone to this.

I changed mine at exactly 50k just so I know where my brakes stand as well as the rear but definitely had a good amount of life left on them !
