    The cap Kelby put on mine was INCREDIBLY tight. Like tighter than it needs to be but I still managed to make it fit after pulling it off. Unfortunately the nipple that protrudes out from the side is one of those in between sizes so you will either be too loose or too tight. There is no in between.

    I prefer it to be too tight over too loose, but then again that nipple is just there to act as an overflow. Sort of like the radiator how it has an overflow for a reservoir.

    I read up on some of the other threads but from my boosted folks. Considering the Toyota WS Trans fluid is not the greatest with heat. What do folks recommend? I see Valvoline MaxLife come up a lot. I also live down the street from an Amsoil dealer. Considering my last trip with trans temps I would like to give it some extra treatment when I swap out the fluid.

    would a drain and fill with a new kind work or would I need to have someone do a full flush before the fill? Also thinking I will try to do the valve body job at the same time.

    Well here is the thing Rob, if you are going to pull the valve body out you are automatically going to lose 9.5 quarts easily on a truck which has a 11 quart capacity tranny. If you are looking at fully changing fluid brands right now is the greatest time to do it more than ever because it will give you a chance to really start out clean. After you drive maybe 3-500 miles do a quick drain and fill to lose the rest of what old stuff you had in there and you should be back in business no problem.

    Exactly what I was thinking. Since I will pretty much empty it any other stuff to consider if I go with non Toyota fluid? I was thinking going with some Amsoil since its close by and great heat properties.

    +1. As @JuanitoBunito said, some minor adaptation is probably required and the fit ends up being ~90%, which was good enough for me too.



    +1 for Amsoil. While we have no A/T vehicles, my GT500 and C7Z both require ATF in their Tremec 6MT and 7MT, respectively. Changing from OEM to Amsoil improved shifting in both cars. It's not scientific, but I believe that indicates better lubrication.

    Ok who here can give me tips on removing this god forsaken belt. Well I have it loose but it appears the tensioner has to come out. Is it just the two 14mm bolts holding it in? Who ever put them on last tightened them down to a metric fck ton.

    Consider removing the wheel well liner to reach the tensioner mount bolt. Tensioner Mount has to come out

    Is it just the 2 bolts on the ftont and one on the side that has a bracket going toward the ac compressor?

    Shoot, I had the same problem. Keep at it steady. I’ve stripped bolts before trying to hurry myself.
