I had a 335i convertible for a few years. Bought it used/certified so had warranty. Also spent the money on the tire/wheel coverage -- which paid for itself three times over after having to replace multiple rear tires (runflats / $500 to replace) and a couple cracked wheels (normal highway driving, occasional pothole).

Never did get a big repair bill, but sold it before I had to have one -- was worried about the fancy hard top convertible would quit halfway open or closed. Bought a slightly used ND Miata -- soft top is completely manual, no mechanisms to break.

Honestly I like the Miata better. Whoever said it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than to drive a fast car slow was right.

Yep I do most of my own maintenance too. They're not hard to work on, except maybe the !@#$%^ clutch master cylinder in my Z4.

I had a 2015 PRHT NC. Terrific car.

I initially was going to get an SLC until I started looking at repair bills out of warranty.

Then I thought about the Z4 with the power hard top. Same thing.

    Then I found the Mazda.

Rock solid reliability and a blast to drive.

The only reason I sold it was because in my area it was becoming as bad as being on a motorcycle with distracted drivers not seeing you.

After the 3rd close call (older Chevrolet truck, built before backup cameras, would have ran me over if I hadn't accelerated forward) I decided to sell it.

    Still miss it.

Looks like 3 chains to drive the camshafts and a 4th chain for something else, probably oil pump. The new Austrian-built Supra also has timing chains in the rear.
Except it makes less power than Toyota's 2.5L 4-cyl today...

I had a friend that got a first round of the RS4 with the 4.2 back in the day. Not old did they have the chains in the back, but they all had a flaw in their block castings and he had a new engine with in the year.

Still love my B5 S4 though.... in all it current glorious pieces. It held out for 287k before the turbos finally gave up and I decided it was time to think of a rebuild.... then I broke the timing belt and that made my decision for me. I’m only sad that I think I missed the bottom of the market on the old bi-turbo S4’s.

Not a dildo. Looks like an attachment meant to keep whatever that is out of the water.

It is phallic...but I bet it would hurt because that black piece appears to be attached.
