Seems like you are getting an education on interwebs do’s and don’t s so I will chime in with another tip:

It’s easy to misinterpret someone’s intentions through written communication, but sometimes people will deliberately try and make an argument twisting something you say.

I am not saying that is what is going on here, but if it was and you get sucked in to responding, you would be “feeding a troll”.

Sometimes it’s good entertainment but if you ignore it you will have more time to do something else.

    Nice avatar by the way.

    Cheers.

Good point!!! I was not actually looking in a sedan direction but rather Taco VS new 4 Runner or 3 years old used Lexus.
I found really good deal for 3 year old, 7000 miles... I know, this is comparing apples to oranges, but it is definitively on my mind...

However, I had Taco since 5 miles old :) Who knows how Lexi was treated and pampered right after delivery :)

Yes- I know BUT (please correct me if I am wrong) - there is different prestige associated with driving Lexi like that and Taco....I am very honest and direct here!! Please express your arguments for and against....

For starters it’s an automatic. It’s got a supercharger, and I like it as it has plenty of pep, but it likes 80 miles an hour. I can’t stand to be doing 75 and listen to the high revs, at least it’s custom exhaust. We just pulled a pop up camper back and forth across the country, it had no issues. But again it wanted to do 80.

Thankfully it’s got a nice sound system in it.

You still have nearly two years for things to sort out. Look at it as a three-year test drive.

No way a new Tacoma’s coming out by 2022. I’d say 2025 at the earliest. IMO:cool:
And I’d also say hopefully a Turbo 6 cylinder for me :D or I’d bet they have a hybrid version up their sleeves by then:thumbsup: and to the OP- I say keep that bad boy. Make it yours. Kept my 01 after a lease and had that bad boy for almost 20 years with little to no problems. Took great care of it, waxed a few times a year and fluid changes/maintenance on time/schedule. 225000 later and I had to replace a O2 sensor, the catalytic converter and regular maintenance, otherwise trouble free:DDon’t necessarily agree on the 4000 rpm thing. Grew up racing motocross and the old adage was “if you ride it like a dog, it’ll run like a dog”. I know opinions will differ greatly on this but it’s my belief that Japanese engines do better and were meant to run at a higher rpm. Or if the engine never runs at a high rpm, when you all of a sudden ask it to do so, it’s not going to do it happily (engine is like WTF?! I’ve never done this before and you expect me to know how to all of a sudden!?o_O) the pistons/rings, fuel injection and all that are not broken in or half broken in cuz it never saw enough use and things are partly weakened or half of it is worn and the other half is like-new and the part doesn’t mesh well together. Once again, my opinion. There is a bit of science & experience to back this up but I don’t want to get into that cuz this post is long enough as it is. :D

Ya, but at 70/75 it’s just high revs, I have learned to shift to fancy shifting mode, then back to drive and most of the time kicks up to to higher gear.

Thanks for the very informative and reflective post that expresses your opinion...i am not keeping RPMs below 4000 RPMs on purpose but rather it reflects how I drive....most drivers make transmission work for them, I am the opposite - I like to have the transmission lead.
I only press gas pedal down when I feel the gear being shifted...it makes for very pleasurable drive and experience.

I hear you - With all fairness, I dont think you can compare out- dated (But proven to be super reliable) 5 speed technology of 4Runner with anything that is more modern AND supercharged...I realized same with Taco - above 60MPH, driving experience becomes just adequate BUT faaaaar from pleasurable....
