Yep @ajmogen , I looked at those. I’ll probably buy them since I have ARB Shackles.
I heard they won’t give a weight rating. I might try to get them before the camping trip. I guess anything is better than nothing. Plus you and @Thatbassguy have a winch. You guys can take turns dragging me out of the mud during the camping trip!

Hehe so apparently I've been hitting invisible objects. My plastic front under bumper thing seems loose. So does my driver's fog bezel. Hehe. Oh and I managed to peel the adheasive off part of the fender without damaging the fender. If I push with my foot it sticks flush but isn't sticky anymore. Any ideas?

Also the light behind the Odo/ H (red H for hot) keep flickering. Loose wire maybe? So do I have to take off my dash.......

Oh and lastly anyone local know how to remove the bumper? I'm picking up my rear at the helm bumper sometime next week and already have the wiring and pods ready. I also want to try and Jerry rig the bsm system just because I have it....

 

Your stock bumper is comprised of 4 main components - 3 plastic composites (the end caps and center piece) and the steel hitch assembly. There are YouTube vids and other sources of removing them properly, if you'd like to sell them (assuming they're in one piece) - I ended up just ripping the plastic off and recycling, as mine was damaged beyond repair from being rear-ended.

Otherwise, the steel assembly is connected to the frame with 8 or 10 bolts iirc. These will be reused for your ATH bumper.

The final part of removal of the stock assembly, which for me was a pain, are two pins that are fitted into a slot on each side of the frame attachment points. You need to lift up on the assembly to break the pins free, then haul straight back. A jack, deadblow hammer, and patience were the ticket for me. Install of the new fully steel bumper is otherwise simple - just reuse the aforementioned frame bolts and wire up your lights.

 

Thanks pat, I remember that hammer tip and pins. I do want to try and remove to sell them. They aren't completely trashed.

I've already done the wiring! The add a fuse was easy.. idk about splitting them to be able to turn them on freely also though..

 

Hm I'd say about 2 hours, and that was with a break and taking my time to make sure it was level, etc.

 

Wait. I have to level it?!

 

The bolts should keep you level since you're using the stock hardware/bolt locations.

I'm sure like with anything, you could overtorque one side and get it ever so slightly not level.

 

By level I mean in line with the countours of the rear body panels, which are easy enough to line up - this'll make sense when you're installing.

One of the sells for me was how the steel was shaped to mirror the body lines so well, vs being the typical chunky blocks from other fabrication shops.

 

56k? I feel like I’m pretty aggressive on my tires and truck in general and my BFG KO2 ATs are rolling around at 75k with plenty of tread left including Utah wheeling, Colorado wheeling and 4 cross country road trips.

 

You people don’t have build threads? What’s this about ATH bumpers? I love mine!

 

Even light truck road tires max out around 75-80k... Ain't never heard of a KO2 going that far lol

It's not on the truck yet, aka not in my build thread. I have it somewhere though!

 

I could have kept going for a while still but figured I’d gotten enough miles out of them with winter coming up

same. Only thing I’ve had get that many is Michelin car tires

 

The only lt truck tire I've seen go that far safely was the Hankook dynapro's,
have a buddy that ran them to 75-76k before buying new and they still had plenty of tread left

 

I guess I should also note, my falkens were SL load rating

 

I took stock size KO2's off the 4runner this year in lieu of bigger tires. With 29K miles, they measured 80% of their original tread. They also wore incredibly evenly. The key was rotating every 5K.

At that rate, I would have easily gotten over 100K out of them(safely). Although, I probably would have replaced them sooner.
