Those are like 50$ each new. But they become worn out and pitted over time. So if they are used then they are trash

Idk what would need a 4pole contacter. And have 5 of them.

Must be in some kind of special application.

most the lighting panels i see are 1 pole or 2 pole. And all the motor contractors i see are 2 or 3 pole

The enclosure is so ridiculously oversized for what’s in there. It’s only like 5% occupied.

Those type of contactors are the cheapest available on the marke, no resale value there. If you ever see a contactor that doesn't have an overload or doesn't look like an OL can be attached to it, the contactor is intended for low amp loads that are non variable.

The 4 poles are for making the contactor .... "versatile" I guess is the best way to put it... you could have 2 single phase 240V loads on one, or a single 3 phase 240/480V load with the 4th pole being left open to be used like an aux NO contact. The lower contacts on the body of the device are for energizing the coil.

With no type of cover control or main power cutoff this panel was an auxiliary panel I'm a larger system ... based on the knockouts at the top of the panel being grouped in the same area and labeled with sequential numbers there's a good chance it probably controlled a bank of industrial lights

Last time I quoted a panel that looked like that it was for someone trying to build a grow op for "tomato" plants

Secret side note...... if someone is really interested in growing "tomatoes" on a large scale or indoors.... its code for ye ol Mary Jane

You can tell by the perforated back pan that it was a cheap option of enclosure.. they probably bought that size thinking they needed that space for a DP (definite purpose) for each light.. before someone with more electrical knowledge told them they could hook numerous lights to one contactor.

Fair enough  I got used to it alot at the lawn and garden shop before it became legal here.... so many people coming in to talk to our garden experts about tomato growing. Lots of high school aged kids coming in to steal special fertilizers we have
