    No good California emissions requirement box that may eventually fail and cost a lot of money to repair but doesn’t actually do anything important or good for the truck.
    That, is what it’s called.

    aka, the secondary air injector pump.

    Lol Sterling thank you. Thanks Kod. Have a P2440 code valve open on bank 2. Dealership is changing the valve and I want to make sure they put a new gasket in the secondary air injector. I’m learning that Nomenclature is critical in this game.

    The 2.7L's had these from day one in 2005 and don't seem to have many issues, the 4.0L's had them added for 2012 and they seem to have more issues. I think the Tundras seemed to have it worst though as far as component failure goes.

    2012 4.0L's just had a recall released to repair the air injection pump and install an improved filter, or replace the air injection pump with one that contains an improved filter, as needed, free of charge. The dealer will also replace the air switching valves in the vehicle emissions system.
