Thanks. She's grown a bit since those videos. She's got @Timbo's Customs rock sliders and she's sitting on 33x12.50R16 Trxus M/Ts on 16x8 ProComp alloy wheels. She's had an @allenfab front skid since forever now.

Looking for someone in the Jacksonville, northeast Florida area that can do an ecgs bushing install. I don’t have the puller or install tool, but will order them if I need to. Beer, money, both, whatever works, I just need it done sooner than later. Thanks

@Timbo's Customs : you were right, Brother, I should have unloaded that battery last year. In the process of wiring the light bar, I changed the constantly corroding positive terminal and splooged the new one up with dialectic grease...none too soon as it turned out since the old terminal broke when I was removing it. In the process I noticed the positive post on the battery was sloppy as hell, so I zipped down to AutoBone to get it replaced like you said I should have done last year. Even though the battery wasn't four years old, apparently 3 years and 8 months moved me out of the free replacement range and I only got $29 for prorating it. Better than nothing, I guess, but now I'm good for another 3 years.

So after consideration I cut the hoop out and went with a ruff stuff shock tower. It sits on top and the side of the frame and actually fits between my uca mounting points. I got one side done so far but the next one will be alot easier. I do still plan to make a cross bar once everything is in the engine bay.

So...I got myself a Votex Viper reflex sight. My intent was to replace the Leupold Deltapoint Pro on my AR with it so I could turn the sight 90* on the scope tube and look down the left side of the scope when using the reflex sight. The problem I had with the Deltapoint was that it sat too tall and I had to use a cheek riser to comfortably get a proper sight picture. Rotating the Deltapoint was problematic since mine has the 7 MOA triangle. I figured a round dot would be better. Turns out, not so much. With the Viper, I had to actually break my cheek weld to see the dot. On the other hand...in the top mount position, I can actually get a good sight picture with the Viper without using the cheek riser. There in lies the rub.

There are some things I like better about the Viper than I do the Deltapoint. It has a lower profile. It has the brightness/on/off buttons on the side rather than the top so you can look at the dot while you adjust it instead of having to move your finger out of the way to check. And it's about half the cost. However, the Deltapoint has at least three things going for it. One is the crisp sharp edged triangle reticle (when adjusted to the correct brightness for conditions). It naturally leads the eye to the tip of the triangle providing a precise aim point, compared to the fuzzy red dot of the Viper. Two, is that you can make sight adjustments with a coin, where as the Viper requires a tool to make adjustments. Three, you don't have to remove the sight to change the battery on the Deltapoint. A potential four, is Leupold's reputation for quality optics.

I mounted the Deltapoint on my Beretta 96 on a dovetail mount, but it looks enormous. I'd put the Viper on it but the mounting bases aren't the same. Really my ultimate goal was to use the Deltapoint on my PX4 since my crappy eyesight, even with glasses, doesn't allow me to properly see the iron sights and the target like I could when I was younger. I need an optical sight of some sort, and while the laser is great at 5-10 yards, it has a very limited window of accuracy before it becomes difficult to judge a hold off.

I'm probably going to leave the Viper on the AR, even though I like the Deltapoint reticle better, and try out the Deltapoint on the 96 to see if it improves the accuracy of the 96 which I was never happy with. If it doesn't, I'll put the Deltapoint back on the Ruger MkII where it was originally, and sell the 96 (or trade it in on a Sig).

I tried the viper, the venom, and the deltapoint, all just trying to save a buck before i bought a type 2 RMR. To me it has the most crisp reticle but is also more compact than the delta point. Just some food for thought in the future.

If you're talking about the Trijicon, yeah, it's on my list of consideration because it uses the same mount foot print as the Deltapoint IIRC. So is the Sig Romeo 3. You might be able to answer this: if the Leupold pic rail base for the Deltapoint was thinner, it would be perfect on the AR. That's why the Viper is more comfortable on it than the Deltapoint. Is the Trijicon pic rail base thinner? I know I'm in a tiny minority liking the triangle reticle since Leupold discontinued it, but it really works well for me. I'd consider the Trijicon for the PX4 if I could find a dovetail mount for it. So far, the only one I've found is for the Burris Fast Fire, and I won't buy another Burris optic. Both of the ones I've had were pretty much garbage. That said, I did buy the mount on the off chance it was cross-compatible with a good optic. I scored it on sale for $35, so I didn't feel like I'd be loosing much if it didn't work or couldn't be modified to work with something I liked.

Also, on the Trijicon, I don't think they had a big enough dot for me. a 1 MOA dot is hard for me to see. Even a 3 MOA is a little hard to see for me in bright conditions. My Viper has a 6 MOA dot and, of course, the Leupold has a 7.5 MOA triangle. Out of curiosity, the Deltapoint you tired, was it the 3 MOA dot or the triangle?

It should be mentioned as far as the AR goes, the reflex sight is a secondary 50 yrds or less sight attached to a Vortex Diamondback Tactical FFP MOA reticle 6-24x 50mm scope intended for 100-300 yrds. I'd like to be able to transition instantly from the scope to the reflex sight and right now, I think the Viper is going to let me do that (plus it let me remove the adjustable cheek rest which will make looking through the scope a little easier since even with extra high rings, it's still mounted so close to the receiver I had to shave off some of the rubber rim on the objective lens cover to get it to go on properly. This is fine with me as the closer to the bore the optic is the more accurate it will be).

Thanks sharing your experience on the various platforms you've tried. It helps.

I don't think the pic base plate is any thinner for the trijicon rmr. Thinner isn't necessarily better either because as the gun vibrates after each shot it is going to vibrate the mount and the thinner that mount is the more likely it is going to shake loose or even break. I liked the triangle on the DPP, but for me the reticle shape is negligible. Also, im fairly certain the Burris footprint is the trijicon rmr footprint.

The trijicon rmr rm07 is a 6.5 moa dot. Like previously mentioned, the DPP i used was a triangle reticle.

I think a picture of your current set up would better help me understand what you're trying to describe

This is my current configuration, but with the Deltapoint mounted. The Viper sits lower due to a thinner pic rail base.

Oh, and I changed to four screw rings for the scope for better eye relief. I used the 6 screw rings on my 6.5 Creedmoor.

Have you ever thought about a 45 degree mount for your red dot? It may make your set up a little bit more low profile, albeit you'll have to get used to the slight rotation of your firearm to use the red dot. I rocked that set up on an ar-10 I had before I sold it. Really liked it while I ran it.
